A friendship formed by Andre Soodeen and Daren Dhoray at Naparima College, San Fernando more than 20 years ago, has developed into a business relationship, with the men now providing services to several top firms and organisations through their information technology company.
Blue Chip Technologies was formed in 2001.
Its office is at Pelican Drive, Phillipine in San Fernando.
The company offers services such as computer sales and services, website hosting, website development, logo and graphics design, database driven applications, network design and implementation and preventative maintenance.
Dhoray, 33, the company's former head web director said Soodeen, 34, was the one who came up with the idea for the company.
He said: "He saw a need for a service driven IT company when he got into the job market around 2000. So instead of just selling computers, he offered a more holistic IT solution which encompassed computer sales, software and website development and networking and infrastructure. I guess he knew he could have trusted me as a business partner since we basically knew each other for about ten years prior… so he approached me to help him with the website and software areas. "
Dhoray said interaction with Blue Chip helped him to grow in the field of website development and his job as Webmaster at the University of West Indies, St Augustine. Dhoray left the company in 2004.
"I still work with Andre on the voluntary/nonprofit areas of the organisation and he often calls on me for IT consultation where applicable."
He said the company was dedicated to doing volunteer work and has built websites for institutions free of charge.
"Our first voluntary website was for Naparima Boys College and the Rotary Club of San Fernando South. We were recommended by the then president of the club, Mr Dev Gosine to work on their website. Mr Gosine taught us both at Naparima College. As our professional expertise grew, we've moved from a computer sales and service oriented company to a full IT solution provider with heavy emphasis on voice and data communications as well as network security."
Some of the institutions to benefit soon from the companies voluntary work will be Hillview Old Boys Association, Susumachar Presbyterian Church and the San Fernando TML Primary School.
With regard to the cost of services, Dhoray said, "Blue Chip's pricing is based on the customer's needs and affordability. Blue Chip will always come up with a solution that is the best fit."
The company's website is www.bluechiptt.com
