sss...... I like them. They look bigger than the 1 i have & i like the custom made tank. Lol...............

sound boy........... I guess it's better to buy them as a pair 1 time. Cause they will grow up together & know each other. I know of alot of cases where you introduce them to each other later on & they fight & stuff.

Caring for them is not to hard. There is lots of information on the net. If you setting up indoors, i guess is your choice to decide what you putting them in. But when they are small, they grow fast. But the bigger tank you put them in, is the bigger they get.

When i bought mine, i had it in a little plastic aquarium. & it got to big for it in a matter of weeks. I went on to a bigger 1, but the same thing happened.

Now it is in a much bigger kinda clothes basket, lol.....
With holes in it, so it can also see outside.
& well that's it. Maybe in time, i will get a much bigger aquarium & put it in that, & by then i will have a few more. But that's like next 2-3 years. For now, i will stay with my 1 turtle.

I know these here (the red ear sliders) they get to be as big as a grown man's hand.

So again, it's your choice. I don't know if there are any kinds that stay small.

If you need more info you can always check/ask here.

Your turtles need sunlight and a much bigger tank ... the shell is not supposed to be curving like that

Things you should note for turtles, their health, and shells.

The turtles need a mixture of uva and uvb light either artificially from a bulb or from direct sunlight.

The turtles should be given calcium supplements twice a week once at the least. The calcium should be dissolved in water and their food should be soaked in it for a period of 3-5 minutes before giving them.

Turtle diets when young should be restricted to turtle sticks and pellets with the occasional dried krill and dried shrimp, live worms for reptiles NOT FROM YOUR YARD. (dried doesn't mean frozen.you should not feed turtles anything frozen)

When they are older about 1 1/2 years old you should vary their diet and feed them vegetables (small broken pieces), fruits (nothing that is known to have high bacteria or parasites as turtle have no immunities to these) and small amounts (once per week if so often or not at all) raw small pieces of chicken or beef, or steam cooked with no additives at all (not even salt and please not give them hot meat :/ )

Please do not overfeed the turtles. a fat turtle might be cute to you and our kids but fat in a turtle is very Unhealthy

Keeping a turtle

Turtle in our climate do not need water heaters but do need (must have) a basking area above the water. The water environment must be 1.5 times the turtle length in depth, 2-3 times the turtles length in width and 5 times the turtles length lengthways. this should be a minimum for a healthy turtle

red eared slider Males grow to 5-7 inches long and females grow to 8-13 inches long

Musk or mud turtles are small and stay small about 3-5 inches adults
