what kinda of software do you plan on running? just a browser?Paullct wrote:Looking to make the change from PC to Mac, starting with my laptop.
Can anyone suggest which is better between the 13" Macbook Air and the 13" Macbook Pro w/ Retina display? I'm looking for an everyday use laptop mostly for web surfing, email, etc. One that performs fast with minimum to no lag loading and running software.

normally those newer drives are ntfs format. I assume those "mac" ones are hfs format. Mac can read ntfs format but cannot write to it unless u use a program.pioneer wrote:bros can these western digital HDD's work with a macbook pro?

I saw they make a specific version for mac but why?
I can confirm that this method has worked for me. Another option is installing Paragon's NTFS for Mac software. FAT doesn't allow you to transfer files larger than 4 gbs I believe so for software suites and blue ray rips you will have to keep it NTFS.pioneer wrote:From the amazon link above:
And for anyone claiming to have a problem using this drive with their Mac, this is all you need to do...
1. Plug in the drive via USB connection
2. Go to APPLICATIONS -> UTILITIES -> DISK UTILITY
3. Click on the hard drive icon located at the very top left sidebar
4. Select the ERASE tab and FORMAT in Max OSX Extended (Journaled). Assign your drive a name if you wish.
Boom
