My first and only pair with VD, they tried the oversized lenses crap on me and I was too young to notice it. It fell once and shattered. Plastic mind you. I never went back to them.

Question: anyone knows why some shops do that? They try to force down a thicker lens for you. When in fact it isn't needed? My prescription didn't change from my previous lenses and OT tried to give me some thick lenses. I of course rejected it and sent it back to the lab. Is it that because they ran out of stock on the smaller thickness and supplement with those? And I can understand it may appear thicker due to a wider lens but side by side it was just blatantly huge.

dont they usually ask you if you prefer the thinner vs thicker lenses?
IIRC the thinner costs a bit more.

Anyone know about lens edge polishing or edge coating?

I have a high prescription and I'm looking for ways to make my lenses thinner.

Anywhere in Trinidad does the edge coating? Or anyway I can do it myself?

HA! Mine did 10 countries

Miring the Nikon frames/lenses, might pick one up if I settle on a size.

Value Optical has their local lab right in chaguanas. check them

I had gotten some lenses from Ferriera a few months ago, had to be done over under warranty and got edges polished on the replacement, not sure if they did that locally though.

if u go high index and smaller frames the lenses should look thinner.

Need reviews on silhouettes.. Time for a new pair and I'm looking at this..

With transitions and ar coating.
Anyone have experience with crizal as well and can compare to normal ar?

....oh gosh..not all at once guys

anyway, forget i asked. read reviews online.
bought them with crizal ar coating + transitions + high index poly lenses (even thinner lens than conventional poly). they also had anti fog; this would have come in handy when i come out the air conditioned car and glasses fogs up momentarily but didnt care for adding another layer on top of the ar to negate any of its effects so didnt take that.
got this color and lens shape:

Image

absolutely love how light they are. model i chose is the titanium minimal art.
total 4400. frames alone 2500.

get them in 2weeks

^by chance where you got em? Locally? $1900 for those lenses are awesome! i paid $1800 IIRC for lens + AR alone :| Transition was costing up to $2400.

Never thought OT so expensive. Never liked their selection though. They don't have much designer frames

Just go with a print out of your prescription or they could take your glasses and check it. I kid u not. Takes two hours max. Did this in Toronto few years back.
