& the small spotted ones which always tangle your lines are called 'morang'

while we're on the topic of banking in the gulf,
I know there was some talk about banning or zoning those
industrial trawlers, have this been done yet?
Or they still roaming free, trawling around your boat etc

We does call the long light brown eel "salmon eel", they actually look like they would taste good. Yeah the trawlers still fishing, legally too. I think they allowed to fish up to February or March, but they can't pass east of Saut D'eau (Shodo) Island.

I get herring and shrimps in San Juan market dis morning. Tunapuna does also have. But since December I kept buying bait and putting away, like Joshua and herring. Going banking tomorrow so have real bait and enough to make a good fresh.

Went banking yesterday, in the Gulf just off Port of Spain by the wrecks. Plenty catfish, some alright sized reds in between. We drop a net too, pull in a couple nice cro-cro and some real big sapatay, and some more catfish.

we fish the rising tide in the morning, and a lil portion of the falling tide in the afternoon. The fellas I went with say the reds pull better on the falling tide.

We get lucky and get a couple big herring, that is what we hold most of the reds on.

i see those fellas in Alcan roast them with the skin on, then remove the skin and eat it

but you can try fish pies or slice them very thin and cook it
