Thanks for the info.

Unfortunately they won't have anytime soon.

Sharon_S, that's a really nice setup there!

For those interested here, the Aquaculture unit of the ministry of food production, Fisheries Division has developed a model small scale nft aquaponics system that has been tested and works. Plans will be available to the public next year. A program was launched last week (http://guardian.co.tt/business/2013-12-21/govt-unveils-aquaponics-plan) In addition, they will be running a commercial aquaculture course. If anyone is interested hit me a PM and I'll give you more info.

Now I am looking for some tilapia fingerlings. a while back I saw a guy selling them for $2.00 in the newspapers but I am not seeing the ad again.
I have already filled the grow beds with gravel and the auto siphons are working great.

Anyone with info as to where I can get it please send me a message.
Thanks

Looks great... whered you get your design?

Hi everyone, I'm new to the group. I've started a Dutch bucket setup and Kratky set up a little over a month ago.
The kratky was a failure dunno if was the fertilizer I'm using .... In the Dutch bucket I have some tomatoes, cucumbers and peppers. They are growing but no big magnificent plants, I'm just waiting to see how they turn out.
Have anyone ever tried magic grow fertilizer, ad if it worked well for them. Image

to me most of the local and "specific" fertilizer foods ratios are wack.your food has 40% potassium which is way to much and can lock out other elements.

salts are salts forget the fancy labels and do a good read up on NPK.

Well I also mix calcium nitrate and Epsom salts together with this. Maybe my mixture was bad or something.
For the lettuce in the kratky setup that didn't turn out well, the ppm was 600-700 and ph settled around 6.2.
The reason for my question was because of the micronutrient content stated in the bag, just wanted to know if anyone had any success with this product and if anyone would recommend anything else.

Lettuce is just a foliage plant that requires alot of high nitrogen from start to finish. When it comes to fertilizers keep it simple a 30-10-10 food is all you need for the lettuce.

Aranguez in the west of trinidad. If you really want it farmrite (675-7362) on aranguez main road had the big blocks for $50.00 last year, bought the one by peakes, label said it suppose to expand when you soak it, 3 days and it never did, it remained compress. Go brave!

I have a small dutch bucket setup. 5 buckets total. Also tried some lettuce in a floating raft with airstones. That didn't work out at all. Gonna try something a little different with the lettuce again tomorrow.
