The guys who didn't get charged taxes,is it the receipt that specifically said 'kit' or does your skybox have a system of ' Prealerts' like what Aéropost skybox has that you let let the company know what type of package you were brining in ?

Kit or no kit on the invoice its up to the custom officer discretion, judgement and opinion how they classify your stuff
Several times no duty or vat was charged on cctv equipment
Lodged a query yesterday in customs house but somehow feel time and effort will be wasted

There are no taxes or vat. Once you import complete systems. Last yr I didnt pay a cent . Again the trick is to have the invoice state the word "kit"

8 full CCTV systems got cleared and was contacted Tuesday evening that there is DUTY and VAT charges and my packages will be delivered Thursday. Courier is DHL and INVOICE clearly stated as CCTV DVR and CAMERA KIT.
What courier service you using Team Loco? Ocean or air? When last you brought in CCTV equipment? 3 shipments in September 2014 all charged duty and vat

The government announced it but never gazetted it...at least that was what I was told by aeropost. So taxes and duties still in effect

Haha. Crap.

So the GM of WebSource responded this:

Hello Mr. Mohammed,

Our brokers have advised us that the law has been reversed, it went back duties and vat.

Please contact Trinidad and Tobago Customs and Excise for further clarification.
