All are on. The problem is the apps don't keep running in the background using mobile data. So I only get notifications when I turn on the app. I think it's maybe to save data but I buy unlimited social plans so data usage is not an issue. Still trying to solve this, I have to keep checking whatsapp every time i hold the phone.

Seems legit given the recent price drop of the current one.

putting the AppStore on the Apple Tv will completely change the set top box segment and give Apple a major advantage
also hoping for a wireless remote (bluetooth or otherwise) rather than IR
as functional as that is, is not as practical as a physical remote.scotty_buttons wrote:Duane 3NE 2NR wrote:I really hope sodredman1 wrote:New Apple TV finally?

Could always use your phone as a wireless remote in the meantime

I use a Logitech universal remote with my Apple TV wirelessly and that's far more convenient than the remote app. if they open up the AppStore to AppleTV then more than likely they will have to introduce a remote with an accelerometer in it to navigate apps usually made for touch, like they did with the Roku 3 and Angry Birds
I've been using a harmony 900 for years too - but now I got a Harmony Ultimate Home and it is leaps and bounds ahead of the One and 900. I agreebeen using my harmony one for years with the Apple TV as well. Phone App remote is last case scenario. I was actually contemplating buying the roku 3 mainly cuz Amazon prime video annoying to use via AirPlay... But think I'll hold off to see details of this Apple TV upgrade first.

I also have a Roku 3 and it is better than the current Apple TV by far with regards to speed and considerably more content including apps like PLEX. I'm not sure even the new AppleTv will allow that. yes you can run Plex on your iPhone or iPad and airplay to your AppleTv right now, but native apps on a device are far more elegant and practical to use.
The Harmony Ultimate controls both the AppleTV and Roku 3 wirelessly without needing IR.
No it's one remote to one hub. You can use your phone or tablet via the Harmony App to access any one of the hubs in your house.scotty_buttons wrote:Duane 3NE 2NR wrote:I've been using a harmony 900 for years too - but now I got a Harmony Ultimate Home and it is leaps and bounds ahead of the One and 900. So since you have it... just got my Harmony Home Ultimate today as well actually. And now releasing that I may need multiple hubs to use the remote/app in different rooms on different floors? It's not a simple IR remote like the Harmony One I'm used to.. Or am I wrong? Please say I'm wrong. Cuz I'll be rel annoyed if i hada buy multiple $100 USD hubs for each room that has an entertainment system![]()
Is either that or run extension cables for the included IR blasters. -_-

The idea is not to walk around the house with your remote. You should have a remote for each room you have entertainment equipment in that requires IR. it's not like you can watch TV in the living room while you are in the bedroom. So you should have a living room remote and hub and a bedroom remote and hub.
Since the hub is also wifi and bluetooth capable it means that you can control wifi and BT devices like light switches, bulbs, window shutters, plugs, shades etc from the remote (or mobile app) from anywhere in the house. But If you want to control the TV or receiver via IR then that room or cabinet will need a hub, blasters and a remote. Since the remote is RF then you can take that remote elsewhere in the house and turn the TV on, but I'm not sure why you'd want to do that since you can't see the TV from outside the room it's in.
The IR on the hub is pretty powerful. I have a Harmony Ultimate Home in my home office and I have the hub in the middle of the room on top a tall storage cabinet and it can control the TV, receiver and a/c unit in the office via IR, control the PS3, Roku 3 and AppleTV and iMac also in the office via wifi and bluetooth.
I didn't need to use the two blasters at all.
You can still use it like that and at your parent's housescotty_buttons wrote:Duane 3NE 2NR wrote:The idea is not to walk around the house with your remote. ahh.. makes sense. You see, I use my old harmony at home in all rooms actually.. since it's unlikely i'll ever have more than one entertainment system in use simultaneously. So never really had the need to use the IR harmony for more than one room simultaneously; remote using in bedroom, living room system almost always off/not in use and vice versa. Also, I use the same harmony remote at parents' house whenever I visit since I added their devices as well. (They have a tendency to misplace/demolish remotes)
So I'm guessing I got spoilt with that.. using one remote for different rooms.. which I now realize wasn't the intention.
The one remote to one hub (per room) makes more sense though and is more convenient; just never really had to use it that way before.
Thanks for clearing that up
