WTK : All In One Shower Units Yay or Nay

Postby Premchand1976 » March 18th, 2015, 6:22 am

Anyone here has these and can help with a decision whether to purchase or not ?

Im considering buying an all in one unit that comes with overhead spray shower, hand held massage shower wand, ceiling speakers, ceiling extractor fan, spray jets on backrest, seat, magnetic edge doors etc etc

Its a really nice price and I am seriously considering purchasing same.

Anyone can help with the pros and cons of these units as well as life span of parts, availability of parts, cracking or breaking of flooring etc.

I was told this unit does not need sand at the bottom, has a few tripod legs that supports it.

Would it make more sense to build an enclosure and use the track type doors as opposed to the all in one ready made unit ?

Thanks

Post a pic or a link of the item. I am also in the market for an enclosure and looking for feedback.

There was a similar post on this before, these shower enclosures don't last and you will end up with problems a year or two down the road ...

Hi, please do not make the same mistake as I did and buy one of

I purchased a supposedly high line model with tempered glass, massage jets and seats, wand, speaker system, overhead lights and touch screen entertainment system, sauna function etc etc....man such a waste of money.

Pros: Looks good and works great at first, lights, speakers and touch screen display still work after 3 years.

Cons: Material its made with deteriorates within 2 years or so, sliding doors start to stick, lining silicone comes apart slowly causing leaks, water starts to spray inconsistent, support legs start to make noise as weight is applied, hot water becomes only warm after a while.

Btw this unit was cleaned everytime after use and wiped outside once a week...still it started to rust and fall apart especially at the back of the unit.

Take my advice and build a shower enclosure. Hope this helps

Just make sure and don't use the drain pipe that comes with the unit, use good pvc connections instead of the flexible hose that is provided... Other than that buy lots of silicone cause most have the tendency to leak

OK so I decided to not go through with this......for now.

Spoke to a friend that worked at one of the stores that sells these and he confessed there are problems with these within months of installing. Particularly the rubbers behind the shower tap handle, the Jets etc and he said even if you get new ones they end up with the same problems ?

Can anyone else vouch for these problems?

plain old mixer and one shower head coming out of the concrete does the job. All them fancy shower panels and all is a waste of time.

Agreed with the above. Do not buy... It's a beyotch to clean. The only way to have it clean all the time is to dig out all the old silicone every couple months and reseal  :|

use Bricon Cobra shower faucet, about $500+ at Ramlagan. single cartridge, easy to use and maintain, all parts available locally...and cheap too.

you can buy one of those shower enclosures only without the panel and faucets to get the enclosure because local ones are very expensive. then u can cast and tile the base, so plumbing drain (1-1/2'") will be permanent and not dependent on hose below and base that comes with it. then mount the enclosure on the tiled shower base. obviously base will have to be level and made to suit enclosure dimensions.
