the question remains, how and why did the quashqi cross???

that concrete strip between highways is a total waste of time...the PP shoulda spend money to erect a proper barrier rather than planting flowers.....

What facts will be revealed???

I think the responsibility is clear while the drivers contribution is to be determined.

The median there allows cars to cross....that should not be.

Jersey barriers -properly designed and installed are designed to keep vehicles on their side.
Since the 60s they working.
As do the cable barriers.

Why the fack are we confronted with a median that sent Jillians vehicle airborne???
Whats the POINT of a median??
Whatever she was doing at that point in time is irrelevant speculation.

I don't disagree with you at all.

PP/Jack Warner initiated a noble drive to erect cable barriers and concrete medians. However, they left this project very unfinished. Let's see if the PNM cares enough to complete this.

Well a little over a year ago while proceeding along the south bound lane just before the Munroe exit all traffic had to come to a complete stop.
Simply because a drunk as fcuk garbage truck driver decided to pull out from the shoulder and attempt a u-turn across the elevated median onto the north bound lane.
He tried and tried and tried but for nothing was he able to climb over.
I was the lead vehicle in the right lane just feet away from this mad man.
On his 4th attempt, when he moved to the right side of the road I took the chance and bolted to the shoulder and past him.
I didn't want to see a car heading north meeting that truck at speed.

I'm bringing this up as I think it will take a lot of force to propel a vehicle over that median, so speed was a factor.

If we choose to drive fast we should accept the consequences; poor fuel economy, greater wear on components, greater likelihood that a component will fail and / or greater likelihood that some shet is going to go sideways.

Man up accept responsibility for your actions, because I'll drag you and your family through the courts if your dip shet driving brings harm to my family.

The median is the problem??
Not speeding, not inattentive drivers but the median??
I know we should not be victim blaming however a spade has to be called a spade.

a person dying by their own actions does not make them an innocent victim.
we should possibly have a day of concrete pouring in thanksgiving for the 90+% that are spared by that same reckless irresponsible murderous median.

Which median is that?

I'm not about that south-drive life.

There will always be accidents. The median should not facilitate a vehicle crossing.

Also call a spade a spade but driving faster than 80 km/h yourself? At some point one has to accept that people travel at a certain pace and you need systems in place to deal with the out come of things going wrong. Not just rely on people.

She had to be speeding, she would not cross the median doing 80ks. The report says the vehicle was practically airborne

All they need to do is put up a few more of those speed cameras, that will tone us down rapidly when the tickets start sharing.

I would say we have accidents for other reasons.

While I agree speed contributes to accidents one of the minor things that cause accidents is people's inability to 'stay left unless overtaking'.

Why is it we "suddenly" don't hear about median crossing accidents in other sections of the highway?

Why is it always this stretch near Chaguanus?

Do drivers suddenly slow down for the other sections of the highway?

Of all the options the New Jersey (concrete) barriers are the best bet for reducing this carnage.
However, I do believe concrete barriers existed at Trincity a number of years ago, when the over loaded Tercel went airborne and crashed into on coming traffic.
There is no 100% solution and silly drivers will always find a way to circumvent the best efforts to keep road users safe.

SPEED OR SLEEP

http://www.trinidadexpress.com/20160222 ... ills-again

SPEED killed another motorist on Monday, the fourth to die in the past three days.

Adrian Panchoo died in the wreckage of his Kia Sportage SUV that went airborne when it struck an embankment along the Lady Hailes Avenue, San Fernando.

That from left rim is completely smashed. Going up that hill is a really weird location though.

Most of the so called jersey barriers installed locally are crap. They are really temporary barriers and not permanent so in impact they all move

On Friday a white Benz came into contact with the cable barriers on the corner around the Tarouba stadium, on the northbound direction. Who knows, without the cables, this may have ended up similar to the Monroe Road accident
