Malcolm Jones dead at 74

Postby widdyphuck » August 5th, 2017, 4:06 pm

How do you reflect on his death knowing that he cost us, the tax payers $2.7 billion for a plant that was constructed but failed to begin producing diesel by the contracted date despite massive overruns...

He was a bright fella, especially having knowledge in the oil and gas sector... but was horrendous while heading petrotrin which in the end, disqualified him from anything energy related. He does have accomplishments under his belt but unfortunately, the failed Gasoline Optimization Programme and the Gas-To-Liquids Scandal is what he will be remembered for.

He was a "smart man", under who's tenure Trinmar went from a consistently profitable company to being a loss making backwater of petrotrin. In fact from that period of the Manning administration when he was installed as the chairman, his philosophy was to get rid of the oil production arms of the company and give them away to friends and family, a practice which continues to this day. Oh, and I hope now that he's gone his family will return the dialysis machine which petrotrin bought for him back to the Augustus long hospital

While I won't rejoice in his death it's a shame he never really got to answer for his thievery of so much taxpayer money. Live a PNM, dead a PNM.

Was surprised to learn that he was ailing. That's probably the reason the PNM administration dropped the case against him, so he could live out his days in peace.

His beneficiaries may be living large though...:|

He was never accused of "thievery" but of mismanagement.
And he was academically outstanding and well experienced.

What a BIG excuse.... how academically outstanding can one be yet still be capable of this level of mismanagement?
The best ability must be complimented with a good attitude!
