As Dominica faces the intensity of the "extremely dangerous" Category 5 Hurricane Maria, the island's Prime Minister, Roosevelt Skerrit, is among those taking to social media to report their experience.
In a Facebook post, PM Skerrit said his roof had been blown off and his house was flooding.

Minutes later, he updated that he had been rescued.
There were also reports that the roof of the main hospital has been lost.
In addition to roofs being blown off, residents across Dominica have been reporting trees breaking and heavy rain and high winds as Hurricane Maria batters the island with maximum winds of 160 mph (260 km/h) with higher gusts.
The "extremely dangerous" Category 5 storm made landfall on the island late Monday.
Skerritt on Monday morning warned citizens that this was “not a time for heroism”.
“This much water in Dominica is dangerous given our terrain and therefore persons should not wait for something to happen in order to take action.”
Dominica suffered massive infrastructural damage and over 20 deaths in August 2015 due to floods and mudslides caused by Tropical Storm Erika. At the time, PM Skerritt said the devastation would “set the country back 20 years”.
