Didn't Steve Jobs say something along the lines of the iPad already being the perfect size, not too big not to small etc. Around the same time the 7" Galaxy tab was heard of? Genuine question here, and if yes (which is in fact the answer lol) What do you guys think about apple releasing a 7" tablet?

I personally think if you want an iPad, then get an iPad, if you want something smaller, get an iPhone, if you don't want an iPhone, get an iPod touch, this isn't bridging any gap at all it's just silly as hell lol

Two things I was a little disappointed on:

1.) no retina option for the iMac
2.) cellular version of the iPad mini could have been a little cheaper, even the $30 would have made a big difference.

Other than that everyone knew pretty much what was coming.

It's a matter of personal preference imo. I was actually considering to get an Ipad 3 but given the price difference I may now turn to the mini version. I'd prefer to get a hands-on demo with it first to see if it'll be applicable for my purpose.

Stueps. This is just getting ridiculous. expect an iPad mini with a retina display at some point. The ppi is currently 163. After taxes 329$ will look a whole lot less attractive.
3rd gen iPad will be 379$ refurbed.

They would probably hold out on retina on the mini until 2nd or 3rd gen. You can really see the effect of Steve not being around, too many devices, it's not the same Apple.

Why buy a mini ipad when u can get a full fledged ipad 2 which has the same screen res for the same price?u won't really see much difference between an a5 and an a5x chip to be honest... Front facing cam is finally upgraded... Wowwww!!!! And lightning connector??? Yes whoopdedoo... I once again am disappointed... These keynotes getting more boring each time...

you noticed that it is smaller right?

as in smaller dimensions, so it fits where a regular iPad might be cumbersome for some users who don't need such a full sized tablet but want the performance of one.

youd be surprised casper at the amount of netbooks, ipads etc used in a first world country n i can definitely see the use an ipad mini..
on campus there are tons of tablets used in school for taking notes and now alot of publishers and schools are using etext books this only adds to the appeal and like mentioned before its a way to get into the market of ebooks and directly compete with the kindle
stop being so small minded

im actually considering the ipad mini for such purposes listed above even though i have an iphone5

What I'm saying pimptacular is go on google and check the size difference of the 2...yes it's smaller but not THAT much smaller to be considered wayyyyyy more portable cuz it still can't fit in ur pocket...and even if was small enough that it can then it'd basically be a little bigger than the iPhone which is now 4"...

I love my ipad 3 yes...if u can justify the need of an pad mini which isn't that much smaller than an ipad 2 then u can also justify the need of an ipad 2...can't understand how 1.7" difference s now an absolute deal breaker ...2" is basically 2 joints on ur pinky finger...not ur index...go check ur pinky and explain to me how that small of a size difference suddenly means a whole new world of portability

I don't comment on the note and the tab cuz I not interested in it...what u think I'm a Samsung fanboy now or somn??? I have a galaxy s3 as a phone and an ipad 3 as a tablet dood...best of both worlds...

Btw...why not talk bout how they also launched the ipad4??? Which is veryyyyyyyy minor changes to the ipad 3....why would they even launch a new ipad so soon after the ipad 3 was released??? 7mths after ipad 3 out comes the ipad4??? Really??? ...then what??? March or April 2013 out comes the ipad5 and the ipad mini 2?

but incase you missed it tablets are very popular in a 1st world country for many reasons other than playing angry birds, especially in corporate america and in universities.. but i guess you missed the part where i said TABLET not iPad.. and i have an iphone and macbook and i mention i am CONSIDERING not getting ..strictly because of the ease the university has made it for iOS users, im already into the apple ecosystem and its smaller which is much more appealing to me than the bigger iPad for my purposes so y not consider it?

i had an ipad 3 and gave it to my 2 year old niece because she wanted her own to watch shows and play games

For real...Samsung makes awful tablets...Even the note 10.1 is too too...I'd always stick to iPads as my main tablet choice but at the rate this new apple going with their "next gen idevices" it feels as though the next time I'd really need to upgrade my ipad3 will be in 2015

whoever said you have to upgrade to every new product a company releases?
if you dont see reason to upgrade kudos to you hence its called an upgrade and its optional not mandatory.. there are some people out there who are tech freaks and have to have the best and latest, just like you want to be deafer and your car louder than the next person, i fail to see the problem casper...

100% there.

If I didn't have a 3rd gen and was in the market for an iPad I'd get the mini also as I use mine for extensive notes and reading.

Half the weight and an almost 2" reduction both length and width would be way easier to handle for my needs.

Will I get the mini? No, if I needed a tab at the moment sure.
