This could be the future, there are already a lot of shows around the world using this tech. Re-useable programmable to any image and very spectacular when paired with the quieter sizzling streak fireworks. All computer controlled of course running a program, just like the firework ignition timers, but much more complicated.

A large fireworks company can afford to do this and get the airspace authority approvals required for the time needed.

I’m all for alternatives but keep in mind trinidad real mc bright. Like brighter than many first world countries. Our light pollution will make a drone show hard to see and real boring.

1) Doesnt exist - actualy not silent since theres no way to launch a projectile or to produce large effects without noise
2) The noise is half the fun :)
3) So-called silent fireworks are sheit compared to regular fireworks: smaller and crappy looking effects. Setta coloured balls with glitter tails and small crosettes. Basically glorified fountains.

Incorrect ..

There are lazer lights display available for decades .

You really think T&T MPs know anything about this technology

T&T is a failed state .

As far as "silent fireworks" go I am very much correct; they do not exist.

Laser.....light.....shows.....are.....not.....fireworks ;) There is something about the 'magic' of fireworks that simply cannot be replicated by any other 'light' display. Fight me on this one :P

I'm 1000% sure ppl aint gonna watch drones make butterflies, hearts, globes, planes, trinidad flag maybe? for half an hour. Its a good idea but for independence? nah this aint it.

No no you are again very incorrect , wrong and misinformed .
Have YOU ever been to a laser show ? A YES or NO will suffice :D

How do you compare diesel engine or petrol engine or electric cars .
Electric cars are silent but it does the same transport .

Same with Laser Lights vs Fireworks .

As mentioned above a certain sector of T&T makes $$$$$$$$$ and that is why T&T goes with the noise !!

How as it?

The cost of 300 of these drones (the # mentioned in the video) would be several times more than the cost of 1 fireworks display. If one drone costs 500usd (most likely more) then 300 drones gonna be 150,000usd or 1,012,500ttd. And thats just the purchase cost of the drones... More $$$ to be spent on shipping/taxes/batteries/chargers/software/broadcast hardware. And thats for only 1 set of drones. Lets say we replace all fireworks in the country with drone shows..... thats 4 locations, so 4 sets of drones aka minimum spend = 4,050,500ttd.

If memory serves correctly, back when clico sponsored d ting it was around 100k ttd per location. Lets say nowadays is 200k ttd each for Arima/Sando/Tobago and 300k ttd for POS. Thats 900k ttd overall.

Now compare the costs: 900k for 4 fireworks displays vs 4,050,500 for 4 sets of 300 drones. 4-5 years of fireworks displays can be done with the drone budget.

If a large fireworks company decided to shell out that kinda $$$ for drones a good question to ask is how much they gonna charge per light show to recoup their investment? Sure the drones are reuseable so yeah they will eventually make back the $$$ but after how long? I cant see taking 4-5 years to break even as being viable for a mostly seasonal business to be sustainable.

So unless the drone prices drop by a huge amount, drone displays are a long way from being a financially viable alternative to traditional fireworks anytime soon.

To revisit this topic on drone fireworks again this year. Canada canceled a lot of their traditional fireworks shows on Saturday gone because because of all the bad smoke and bushfires, adding more smoke pollution to it wasn't going to help. So it's changing, slowly. Will it reach down here? Not in any meaningful way because how they gonna make big money from the common man who love to smell money burning, something that would need AATT airspace permissions and planning to display?

Some US cities are replacing 4th of July fireworks with environmentally friendly drones

As temperatures rise and fire threats increase, some urban areas are foregoing the traditional fireworks display in favor of spectacular drone light shows this year.

(CNN) — Fire threats and environmental concerns have prompted some U.S. cities to forego traditional Fourth of July fireworks in favor of spectacular drone light shows this year.

Salt Lake City, Utah, tried out the alternative way of celebrating Independence Day on Saturday with its first-ever drone show.

The city’s mayor, Erin Mendenhall, said in a news release the new format marked an effort to minimize the area’s “high fire danger” and to lessen air quality problems caused by pyrotechnics.

“As temperatures rise and fire danger increases, we must be conscientious of both our air quality and the potential for wildfires,” Mendenhall said in the release.

Jeff Stein, who runs California-based Drone Studios, added La Jolla had gone without fireworks for the past five years.

“They found drone shows as a solution because they’re quiet,” Stein told CNN.

“Drones are reusable, and with fireworks, you have smoke, other fallout like debris, the noise stresses out dogs and people with PTSD. There’s a lot of military in San Diego,” he said.

I don't mind local fireworks. For some, these celebrations are the last time they can use all their fingers and thumbs to count to 10.

I will be watching my first 4th of July drone show tonight. They Said it’s for those kids that’s sensitive to sound. But right after they will be letting the real fireworks fly.
