Guys I decided to try a wired connection on my Apple TV, since of recent I've found the wireless connection with it to be getting slower and slower? I assume its probably increased interference since other devices closer to the router work fine.
So I ran an ethernet cable directly from the router to the ATV, but it's not working properly. I cant say its not working at all since the home pages with the thumbnail images in youtube, Netflix, Amazon VOD etc open up (albeit slowly), but when I select a show to watch, it just buffers and thats it. It doesn't even show - the spinning circle thingee stays circling.
From what I read the wired connection is supposed to be faster and more reliable, but not in my case, and I know for sure the cable is working because when I connect it to my laptop or ps3 they both get full network speed.
Any ideas or suggestions on a fix?

I get better or more stable connection when using wired over wireless connection.. If you sure the cable working would advise testing in another setting otherwise there is a slight possibility that the wired Ethernet may be faulty.. Have seen that scenario only once though..

what kind of router are you using? Have you tried connecting the ATV directly to the modem?

Phreak, I'm hoping it's not a problem with the ethernet port on the ATV. I've never used ethernet on it - only ever used wifi with it since I've had it about 2 years now (never had to), so it should be ok (I hope?). And I'm sure the cable is working - my laptop and ps3 get full speeds with it.

Duane, it's a Linksys E2000. I've never had problems with the router until maybe the last 3 or 4 months. Poor D/L speeds in the bedroom on all devices (phones, tablets, laptop, ATV, ROKU, PS3 all in the bedroom), but strangely enough upload speeds are normal. Once I walk out the bedroom though and get closer to the router, the D/L speed return to normal. When I walk back in the bedroom, the speeds drop to well below 1 Mbps. Prior to the last couple months, wifi connectivity in the bedroom worked fine (over 2 years). I haven't tried connecting the ATV directly to the modem though - will give that a go and see if it works. Thanks.

Yes Raptor - that's the plan. It seems my router is on its way out, so looking around at options. An Apple router is on my shortlist.

Pete, I already have a Roku right next to my ATV, and it also suffers from the same gradual degradation of speed in the last couple months.

My next test would be the device in another environment with different network and Ethernet cable.. That could rule out hardware failure..

My ethernet problem is solved, but I'm not too sure what the issue was. I didn't get around to connecting the cable directly to the modem, but I did do a factory reset which seemed to solve the problem, as the wired connection is working now.

Have to say it's much faster and more stable than the wifi.

Thanks for the suggestions

Start calculating the shipping cost if its within warranty. If it is out. I think its $199 USD plus whatever shipping for a new device. AFAIK there is no "fix" aside from shipping it back. Tr1ad I think we discuss this before though? A next one dead?

Same one, it just there... was contemplating getting a new antennae (they're pretty cheap)... sending back to apple wouldn't make sense as I switched devices a few months back

Ah hear it does stem from d main board but worth a try. Its an iPhone 5? U can check the serial online. If it died within the warranty period, you could always carry it whenever u go abroad and hassle an apple store. U did file a claim right?

iPhone 6 event all but confirmed according to Re/code (formerly AllThingsD), who has a good record predicting the dates.

2nd Sep - announcement of event*
9th Sep - iPhone 6 event
12th Sep - iPhone 6 pre-order
19th Sep - iPhone 6 release

*based on when Apple announced last years event.

could vouch for that warranty.
I bought a used iPhone here on tuner, I damaged the screen, and had it replaced, a few months after I noticed the camera had some lines so one day while i was at West Mall I decided to stop into the iWorld place to see if they could fix the camera.
The guy looked at the screen showing the purple lines and punched up the imei number on their computer then told me that I have 10 days remaining on my warranty, what would you like to do?
I wasnt aware the phone had any warranty nor did i know that it would be honored seeing as i bought it used from someone.
Long story short, they took my old phone, send it to apple and one week later gave me a brand new one as a replacement.
iWorld customer service is the best I've encountered in Trinidad so far.

How much you paid iWorld to facilitate this?

Advisor [5:41 a.m.]:
Applecare+ covers two incidents of accidental damage with a $79 service fee.

When I asked apple chat about replacing my ip5 screen, they said I gotta pay the service fee :|

^ Yes they did everything. That's why I said they had the best customer service. all it cost me was the loss of use of the phone

dat is luck. Personally I never had to deal with them but know a few persons who tried to return those "wifi" problem phones and the "geniuses" hit them a 1 2 GTFO and a $199.99 replacement fee for the one person. Mind you the guy was well within the warranty period.

Where is the best place to get an ipad mini (retina) in Trinidad? At the best price of course.
