^same thing i was thinking. I absolutely love the concept though...hope it reaches far.

On another note...anybody used/using any good office software on their androids? Im seriously considering a galaxy tab to replace my notebook, but i need to be able to properly create and edit word docs, excel sheets an ppt presentations. I have documents to go on my SGS, just want to know if theres anything else worth trying out on the market.

Google+ to surpass 10 million users?

Image

Holy social networks, Batman! An estimate from Ancestry.com founder Paul Allen suggests Google+ may hit the 10 million member mark in the next 24 hours. If the invite button is left on, this number could climb to 20 million by the weekend.

Allen (not be confused with the Microsoft co-founder) uses a surname-based model to calculate these subscriber numbers. He's been using this model since he first joined and claims it is quite accurate. Judging by the amount of spam I already see in my stream, I would have to agree.

Google Photovine Lets You Create Social Photo Collections

Image

Google may be launching a new photosharing service called Photovine. The big G owns photovine.com and just launched a teaser page with an iPhone encircled by some lovely vines.

According to its FAQ, Photovine is apparently more about connecting with people than sharing photos with your friends. The service lets you build a photo collection around an idea or theme using photos submitted by other members of the social network. These collections are called vines and include a caption or theme like mountain hiking. The vine will grow when users begin adding their own photos that contribute to this theme.

It's "uber public" and meant for people to share their personal experiences freely so they can connect with others. Images will be moderated so this freedom of expression does have its limits (no Weiner-style crotch shots, fellas).

The service is being developed by Slide, a subsidiary of Google that is also behind Instagram wannabe Pool Party.

Google updating Android Market app on phones, adding Movies and Books tabs (video)

Image

If you're on Android 2.2 or above get ready for an update to your Android Market experience. Google has just informed us that a new version of the app is incoming, a version that will add tabs for easy access to Google Books and Movies. Starting with the more visual purchases, at $1.99 you'll be able to start watching movies almost instantly, and apparently see whether Chevy Chase will ever take his family on a successful vacation. But, if offline access is key, you'll also be able to download the misadventures of the Griswold family for later viewing. Books is now integrated too, saving you the hassle of having to launch the books app, which required you to then open the browser to actually buy any digital tomes. Overall the new design looks cleaner, finger-friendlier, and the addition of Editor's Choice apps should make it easier than ever to get to the good stuff. The update will be rolling out gradually over the next several weeks and, once you've been admitted to the club, you'll be able to download the Videos app as well. Check out the video preview after the break.

I have been using one, it is a good laptop for web surfing even better if you use Chrome as your web browser.

However, the novelty is gone so if anyone interested willing to let it go.

the new Market is sweet! here's how to get it now...

Get the Latest Android Market Before the Official Update Rolls Out

Google's rolling out an all-new, easy-to-browse, book-and-movie-clad Android Market over the next few weeks, but if you're impatient you can grab it for your phone right now.
If you want the official update, you'll have to wait until it rolls out for your device, but rooted users and impatient users can grab the leaked APK and install it on their phone just like any other app. Make sure you have the "Unknown Sources" box checked in Settings > Applications, and then just grab it from this MediaFire link. Transfer it to your phone and start it up, and it'll install itself over the old Market. You'll be able to access all the new features right now.

After a few minutes playing with it, I can say this: this is a great update. Not only is its Windows Phone-like interface great for browsing, it's also smooth as butter—and of course, eBooks and movie rentals are a great addition. Hit the link below to check it out, and let us know what you think of the new Market in the comments.

well me eh know bout allyuh but i actually like it and could see myself using it more than facebook as it opens up to the public and more ppl jump on board.

they've left invites open for a good while now so its popularity is growing (estimated to be about 20 million users in 20 days by this weekend)

dont see it becoming another Buzz or Wave, buh das jus me.

Facebook can zuck it! :|

im thinking about switching from blackberry to android.
what are the best phones i can get in the 2-3K range?
would the switch over be seamless? is it possible to sync over contacts and all my personal info to android from my BB?
would i have to switch my BB data plan to the unlimited edge data plan to get data?

Android Activations at 550,000 per Day as Google Hauls in $2.51 Billion in Net Income
Image
Google’s Larry Page met with investors today to discuss Google’s Q2 earnings, reporting a whopping $9.02 in revenue and $2.51 billion in net income, up from $1.84 billion for the same period last year. While those figures are quite astounding alone, Page also dropped a the latest Android activations number. The platform now sees 550,000 handsets activated per day. That’s up from the 500,000 activations per day Andy Rubin alerted us to just a little over two weeks ago. The figure was only 350,000 during Q1, and rewinding the tape a whole year only 160,000 Android activations occurred every day. As for apps, the Android Market with its 250,000 applications has now seen its 6 billionth download. Pretty astonishing growth, indeed.

Page: growth on Google+ has been great, over one billion items shared

Image

Wondering why Google+ ran out of disk space? Looks like it might be a casualty of growth: in today's earnings call, Google CEO Larry Page revealed that since its launch, more than ten million people have joined Google+, sharing some one billion items every day. Those numbers not big enough for you? Then chew on this: that little +1 button? It gets clicked 2.3 billion times per day in its own right. It's still a far cry from the 750 million users actively addicted to Facebook, but still, that's a heck of a start.
