She did my wedding as well and while our expectations weren't met, compared to the horror stories we've heard we came off relatively ok...she came with two cases of water for 180 guests, closed up the bar when we left to take pics, didn't have all the food we paid for, etc etc...

I were asking for a refund on some of these items but seeing as how many people she owes it doesn't make sense.

This situation with hiring and payments to an 'event planner' brings into focus the need for all to be extremely cautious when entering into service arrangements.
Yes,the fees charged by many professional planners are prohibitive for the average citizen,but interviews,references and quotes must be a starting point coupled with continuous monitoring of the various stages of the process.
Payments to event planners must be tied to delivery of the agreed stages.
I missed the complete program and only saw the end bit and walked off in disgust,but I really would like to know what this persons charges looked like.I wouldn't be surprised that her costs were very attractive and well below market (this is a tell tale sign).
The question now is what charges can be laid by the police,hopefully something like happened with the 'cruise-lady'.
She may not be able to refund $ but should certainly spend sometime under the care of the prison services.

I know for a fact that some paid over 20-40k but their weddings weren't complete disasters like those women on Ian....She just failed to deliver on some things, from my guest those women paid for decorations or venue or both. One woman was owed 15 thousand which Janelle said she will pay by the end of the year....
