^ you know the answer....lol

its an iterative process....

one can comfortably enjoy a movie with a 2 bookshelves, powered sub and an amp.

once you got the core down....save up and add from there...

it never ends !!!

^ yeah my thinking is get the best best best most future ready receiver you can get and go from there

but not even the most future ready receiver may last 5 years the way technology is changing rapidly

oh for the people looking at HTIAB (home theater in a box) all in one systems, you can read a great comparison and list here from cnet
http://reviews.cnet.com/best-home-theat ... contentNav

there are different schools of thought:

some say you buy your speakers for forever and you can change your equipment as time goes by and technology changes - so buy the best speakers available.

others say you buy your receiver and amps and equipment for forever and change your speakers as time goes by - so buy the best equipment available

few audio/videophiles say don't buy anything for forever cause you change everything all the time as time goes by - so don't waste your time on anything overly expensive.

what you guys think??

i believe in the invest in good speakers,as they would last really really long (not forever though) and once kept in good condition, can still fetch top dollar.I've realized that speakers,be it bookshelves or floorstanding keep their value,or somewhere close to it as the years go by.

the weight on that pioneer unit is that bad..about 20lbs and has some really nice specs for 400US

but i've put my quest for the HT stuff on hold, i may just get a sub and run it wit the stock speakers which dont sound that bad, considering i had a sharp 27" tv for the past 8yrs
i'll bring a set up through that barrel scene next yr wen i visit miami

btw the place that sells denon and other popular brands, cant remember the name, but they only had one denon reciever in stock and the cost was a little more than 9k

more or less warranty,i know support blows locally.thank god for forums.

called monster, they dont have any of the model's but they do have the 590AVR,which is basically the 1610,might go with that.

check out the graph, full HDMI Support

http://batpigworld.com/models.html

Q. What is the difference between the three-digit models (e.g. AVR 590) and the four-digit models (e.g. AVR 1610)?

A: Essentially, NOTHING. Denon puts out two parallel receiver lineups, with four-digit and three-digit model numbers. The four-digit models are generally sold by high end stereo shops and custom installers, and the three-digit models are the "consumer" version sold in retail outlets like Circuit City and Fry's.

However, there is ZERO difference in terms of power, specs, sound quality, build quality, etc. between the two lines. Denon has been doing this for years, it is exactly analagous to the Yamaha HTR and RX-V parallel receiver lines.

There will usually be one or two minor differences to differentiate the three-digit and four-digit models. There is typically a slight cosmetic difference between the two lines, and different remotes.

In the specific case of the 1610 vs. 590, the only differences (besides the cosmetics) is that the 1610 has A/B speaker switching, whereas the 590 only has "A" front speakers

In all other respects, the 1610 and 590 are IDENTICAL.

he's wrong there about the Yamaha

the HTR series are more or less the same as the RX-V in terms of features, however the HT-R have amps and sound/signal quality that didnt make the RX-V grade which is why they are BOTH sold in Best Buy but the HTR is cheaper.

If you plan to use some crappy US$200 speakers then the HTR is probably best cause any quality gain on the RX-V wont be attainable anyway.

For all thiose thinking about buying stuff from Radioshack, especially in Trinicity, please do your research first and trust your ears.

A couple years ago I went in, and there is a heavy set gentleman doing the demos, he put on a movie and an infiniti sub and played an expolosion in a movie.

He said: "Sounds FANTASTIC doesn't it!! :D "

I said: "no"

And it didn't. :|

correct, but is best you go in there and know exactly what your looking for rather than ask for help.I learnt my lesson with that a few years ago when i was looking for some simple banana plugs, this one dude was like "WHUTUUUTTTT?!?!? :? "
