anyone with any experience with Mt Gay's Extra Old and 1703 rums? Trying to have as diverse a collection of aged rums for an event as possible but all the same not wanting crap, the online reviews are good but prefer a first hand account

I really enjoy Mt. Gay XO (extra old) ... It's an easy rum to like, sweet. full bodied, but if Ihave to critize, it's kinda one dimensional ... Not very complex.

But all in all a top recommendation.

Never had the 1703 ... where did you see it selling?

Two of my top rums you can get locally:

The El Dorado 12 year old
Ron Zacapa Centenario 23 year old

I saw both in duty free Grenada, however I laised with the local distributor Hadco and they said you can purchase these rums at Peppercorns Ellerslie Plaza and West Mall, Bottle Stop - Maraval and Naipaul's Xtra Foods - Grand Bazaar.

always wanted one just for collection reasons as I enjoy collecting and sampling vodkas. Think I'll buy one for aesthetic reasons.

and agreed, anything wodka made in North America would almost always classify as toots + Grey Goose.

Slavic vodka ftw, taste is undeniable.

Well that's slavic too you know

and I still disagree, I've had the Russian Standard Platinum before and I still rate Polish and Ukrainian vodka more. Chopin and Luksusowa are probably my favorite 2.
