Server logs indicate that Apple may be testing two new versions of the iPhone OS.

The BoyGeniusReport found evidence of two new user agents in their log files. The first, iPhone OS 3.1.3 would be a minor bug fix. The second, iPhone OS 4.0 would be a significant upgrade to the operating system.

Its important to note that user agents can be faked; however, its fairly obvious that Apple would already be working on the next update.

ADRENALINE KID, add the xsellize one as well.

SRASC, guy, i was wondering, they say i need to obtain my SHSH so that in case sh!t happens i can downgrade. I see on Cydia that i have SHSH on file for 3.1 and 3.1.2. But i wanna know, Do i have to actually back up a file? like obtain a file from my filesytem or a code or something? Or i just need to add Saurik's host IP to my hosts file and i am done?

EDIT: Now reading this:
http://iphone-enthusiast.blogspot.com/2 ... aurik.html

i just need to add that line to my host file and im safe :) well i think so?

This one called Camcorder is closer to Cycorder than iVideoCamera, by having unlimited recording times and a resolution of 320x426.

Category: Photography
Price: $0.99
Released: Dec 14, 2009
Size: 0.2 MB
Seller: Kenneth Kao
Latest version: 1.1

On my way to finding out the not mentioned frame-rate I discovered another 'flaw' as such. Camcorder only allows recording & deleting of videos on the iPhone itself. No backup/transfer to computer. But from the looks of it it didn't look like its frame rate was better.

Before you get your panties in a bunch, yes, this functionality has been available to us for some time. I’ve been using Jaadu VNC for awhile which works pretty good. Can be a little time consuming, but the ability to control your PC from anywhere is great feature for iPhone users. There are of course a number of other apps that do similar functions, however it appears as thoughApple is looking to make this a feature that is built into the iPhone.

Yesterday the USPTO published a unique granted patent, filed on behalf of Apple, that provides insight into the Apple’s potential plans. The patent is titled “Remote control of electronic devicesâ€

Verizon, the largest wireless provider in the U.S., is reportedly investing in its network to make it capable of handling extra traffic from Apple's iPhone, a company official said.

In an interview with BusinessWeek, Anthony Melone, Verizon Wireless' chief technology officer, said his company is prepared if Apple decides to end its exclusive agreement with AT&T in 2010.

"We have put things in place already," Melone reportedly said. "We are prepared to support that traffic."

The company official did not, however, comment on the prospect of the iPhone becoming available on Verizon. But various reports as of late have suggested Apple could be working with chip-maker Qualcomm for a CDMA-capable iPhone that could run on the Verizon network. While there is some debate as to whether the phone would be a dual-mode, also compatible with GSM networks, or solely CDMA, reports have pegged the new handset for a possible launch in the third quarter of 2010.

Some analysts believe a Verizon iPhone in 2010 is a very likely scenario. Piper Jaffray believes there is a 70 percent chance Apple will launch the handset in mid-calendar year 2010. With 89 million customers, Verizon would add a great number of potential customers for Apple to expand the iPhone to.

But some others believe that a deal between Apple and Verizon would be too complicated, citing the incompatibility of the current phone with its network, and also the conflicting interests between the two companies. Others have viewed T-Mobile as a potential candidate, as it and AT&T are the only nationwide GSM networks in the U.S.

Verizon has invested nearly $19 billion in its wireless network over the last three years, and made acquisitions of companies like Alltell to improve its network. Melone said his company's investment in its network is evidence that it takes its service seriously.

AT&T's network, meanwhile, has struggled since the launch of the iPhone 3GS, and key features like multimedia messaging and tethering were delayed to prevent a strain on the network. But Melone told BusinessWeek that Verizon would not have those same issues.

"We will handle it if we ever get it," he said.

3.1.2? hrmm.. odd. i was reading this here:
http://iphone-chat.org/iphone-312-messa ... ure-66700/

and this is what the guy said to try:
I've had a similar problem - couldn't receive or send sms text messages after upgrading to 3.1 and then 3.1.2. Initially after the upgrade texting worked fine, but after restoring the iPhone backup in iTunes, sending a text in the Message application would quit to the desktop.
Also, if I deleted message "conversations" (either using Edit or swiping and deleting a text message) and then quit the Message application, on re-opening Messages the sms threads would be back. They simply wouldn't delete!
A workaround that is working (for me anyway) was:
1/. Use Cydia to install OpenSSH on the iPhone.
2/. Use CyberDuck on the Mac and go to /User/Library/SMS and copy sms.db to the Mac Desktop as a backup.
3/. Take a deep breath then delete sms.db on the iPhone (Option+click then select delete)
3/. Restart iPhone. All SMS conversations are gone but texting works.
However, just for the heck of it I then copied the old sms.db back from the Mac desktop and rebooted the iPhone - the result was that all old conversations were back AND texting worked again!

try that and do let us know if this helps ;)

Here comes another video camera app for the iPhone 2G & 3G

iVidCam is an iPhone App for video recording on the 2G and 3G. It provides a better framerate and video resolution then previous offerings.

Just in time for the holidays, now you don't need to jailbreak your phone or upgrade to the 3Gs to capture all of your special moments on video.

Features:
* Impressive video resolution, 280x360 for both portrait and landscape recording.
* Estimated frame rate is 3-7 frames per second. This is the fastest we can take using the Apple-approved developer kit.
* Only limit to how long you can take a video is your iPhone storage. We've taken videos 10 minutes long with no problem. Longer videos take a while to encode, so be prepared.
* iVidCam encodes and saves your videos as mp4 files inside your app. No need to have internet connection because all the encoding is done within the app (and not on a far away server). iVidCam uses advanced video encoding technology.
* View all recorded videos with landscape movie viewer
* WiFi transfer your videos to your desktop for safe keeping. Tested to play well on QuickTime Player.
* Upload your video to YouTube, and then you can share your YouTube link via email or Twitter.

Note: Sound recording can be turned off in settings for improved frame rate capture.

You can purchase iVidCam from the App Store for $1.99.

I got it working... Apparently it was a network problem so the tech lady corrected it on her end.

One more thing that can caused this problem is to make sure your phone has the correct "Message Center Number". It's a phone number that your phone uses to access the network to send/recieve messages. MCN's differ when each phone company, so you'll need to call your provider to get their MCN.

To check to see if you have the correct # , dial *#5005*7672#

to change MCN, dial *5005*7672*+1XXXXXXXXXX#
Replace XXXXXXXXXX with 10 digit MCN number provided by your carrier

The Cool Wall app
And now, it's time for the Cool Wall...

One of the Cool Wall's charms - and equally its most frustrating aspect - is that, as you might expect, Clarkson rarely listens to anyone else's opinion.

He takes much pleasure from listening to what Hammond has to say, and then blithely ignoring him.

But now, you get to have your say, with Top Gear's new Cool Wall app for the iPhone and iPod Touch.

With over 300 cars for you to rate - and a load of fan favourites from past series included - choose where you'd place them on the Cool Wall, before finding out if Clarkson, Hammond and May agree with you.

Try to place as many cars as you like as many times as you fancy, and then see how you did with the handy CoolWallResultsGeneratoriserfication unit - or the Results button, as you might call it.

The Cool Wall app might help you to forget the awful jumper your Nan's got you for Christmas, as you know how cool that isn't already.

You can download the Cool Wall app here from iTunes.

Or alternatively, try nailing large chunks of meat to a wall - which is what Stig's been doing recently.

A calendar listing for San Francisco's Moscone Center has led to speculation that Apple's annual Worldwide Developer's Conference will coincide with the three-year anniversary of the original iPhone's launch.

The Moscone Center Calendar lists a "Corporate Event" from June 28, 2010 through July 2, 2010 in the Moscone West hall. Previous Apple events have been reserved with the same title.

This year, WWDC 2009 ran June 8 through June 12. In previous years, the event has marked the introduction of new iPhone models. This June, Apple introduced the iPhone 3GS.

The original iPhone debuted on June 29, 2007, along with an exclusive contract with carrier AT&T. Since then, it has been rumored that the two parties are locked into a three-year deal due to expire next summer. While AT&T has reportedly attempted to extend that contract, rumors have persisted that Apple will expand to other carriers.

If WWDC 2010 does take place on June 28, 2010, it could be booked to coincide with the expiration of the current contract with AT&T. Recent reports have suggested that Verizon, the largest wireless carrier in the U.S., could offer a CDMA compatible iPhone next year. Some analysts see Verizon as the best choice for Apple to expand the platform, but others feel technical limitations and different corporate styles could serve as a roadblock for such a deal.

For their part, Verizon officials said last week that their network would be capable of handling the added bandwidth from the addition of the iPhone. They did not, however, imply that the handset was coming to their network.

Another option could be T-Mobile. While the fourth-largest carrier in the U.S. does not have the size or stature of AT&T or Verizon, it is a GSM-based network, meaning compatibility with T-Mobile would be simple to accomplish with the existing iPhone hardware. Given the simplicity of such a move, some have predicted it to happen in 2010.
