For now....as we have seen this virus is highly unpredictable and all the low possibilities are becoming a reality....what happens not if but WHEN it mutates into something that not only breaks through but hospitalizes more vaccinated individuals

New York has started their vaccination requirements for public spaces today meanwhile they have decided that their youngest residents, 11 and under, who can’t be vaccinated, have to sit inside school buildings for 7 hours a day? What could go wrong?

Sources say US could join Israel this week in administering 3rd dose in attempt to stave of ultra-infectious Delta strain

WASHINGTON (AP) — US experts are expected to recommend COVID-19 vaccine boosters for all Americans, regardless of age, eight months after they received their second dose of the shot, to ensure lasting protection against the coronavirus as the Delta variant spreads across the country.

Federal health officials have been actively looking at whether extra shots for the vaccinated would be needed as early as this fall, reviewing case numbers in the US as well as the situation in other countries such as Israel, where preliminary studies suggest the vaccine’s protection against serious illness dropped among those vaccinated in January.

An announcement on the US booster recommendation was expected as soon as this week, according to two people familiar with the matter who spoke to The Associated Press on the condition of anonymity to discuss internal deliberations.

Doses would only begin to be administered widely once the Food and Drug Administration formally approves the vaccines, rather than the emergency approval that has been in play thus far. That action is expected for the Pfizer shot in the coming weeks.

So 1st, lockdown didn't work, solution, more lockdown.
Then masks didn't work, solution, wear two masks.
Now, vaccines not working, take more vaccines.

Blood clotting may be the root cause of Long COVID syndrome, research shows

New evidence shows that patients with Long COVID syndrome continue to have higher measures of blood clotting, which may help explain their persistent symptoms, such as reduced physical fitness and fatigue.

The study, led by researchers from RCSI University of Medicine and Health Sciences, is published in the Journal of Thrombosis and Haemostasis.

Previous work by the same group studied the dangerous clotting observed in patients with severe acute COVID-19. However, far less is known about Long COVID syndrome, where symptoms can last weeks to months after the initial infection has resolved and is estimated to affect millions of people worldwide.

The researchers examined 50 patients with symptoms of Long COVID syndrome to better understand if abnormal blood clotting is involved.

They discovered that clotting markers were significantly elevated in the blood of patients with Long COVID syndrome compared with healthy controls. These clotting markers were higher in patients who required hospitalisation with their initial COVID-19 infection, but they also found that even those who were able to manage their illness at home still had persistently high clotting markers.

The researchers observed that higher clotting was directly related to other symptoms of Long COVID syndrome, such as reduced physical fitness and fatigue. Even though markers of inflammation had all returned to normal levels, this increased clotting potential was still present in Long COVID patients.

"Because clotting markers were elevated while inflammation markers had returned to normal, our results suggest that the clotting system may be involved in the root cause of Long COVID syndrome," said Dr Helen Fogarty, the study's lead author, ICAT Fellow and PhD student at the Irish Centre for Vascular Biology in the RCSI School of Pharmacy and Biomolecular Sciences.

Question the 200 million that survived covid have to deal with long covid syndrome?

is israel continuing to practice mask and distancing etc
or gone into full slack mode like many parts of USA ?
if that is the case then we can expect this and reduced chances of virus fizzling out

The transmission method was not the same, but AIDS never went anywhere. The world had to learn to live with it.
Medicinal research is already on the case; the aspect of health precautions and personal responsibility is next.

Hello Mmoney607,

Masks work when worn EFFECTIVELY and PROPERLY.

The same goes for sanitizing.

Many people are not listening and inconsistency has its consequences.

People getting Covid have to follow the examples of people who are NOT getting Covid.

Yes folks Remember to Sanitize your hands so you don't inhale those respiratory droplets ... Cause that's how the virus spread ... DUH!!!

And don't forget too wear a non 95 mask (i.e surgical and cloth) that has no certification to stop the release or inhalation of micro respiratory droplets.

Come one guys why can't you just trust the public healthcare experts and politicians who said to not wear masks ... Then changed their minds and said to wear them.

Do tell why its irresponsible to inform people that the way covid-19 spreads is via respiratory droplets and not surface contact.

Also to inform people to wear N95 masks to protect themselves vs useless cloth/surgical masks?

The fact is that a well made, well fitting cloth mask is effective. Though it may not be as effective as the best commercial face mask.

It is also true that the greatest factor affecting any mask is that air that is inhaled and exhaled not be allowed to bypass the filter media.

Hand washing continues to be recommended:

During the Coronavirus Disease 19 (COVID-19) pandemic, keeping hands clean is especially important to help prevent the virus from spreading.

The fact is that a well made, well fitting cloth mask is effective. Though it may not be as effective as the best commercial face mask.

It is also true that the greatest factor affecting any mask is that air that is inhaled and exhaled not be allowed to bypass the filter media.
