ENVIRONMENTAL activist Dr Wayne Kublalsingh will end his hunger strike on Wednesday 1stJuly almost nine months after he began his second hunger strike.

Kublalsingh told the Express on Monday that the people of Debe and Mon Desir needed him to fight for them and he could not remain on a bed any longer.

The activist who have engaged in two hunger strikes in an attempt to get Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar to change the route of the extension of the Solomon Hochoy Highway to Point Fortin said he was feeling healthy but very weak.

The leader of the Highway Re-Route Movement (HRM) said a press conference was planned for Tuesday at Gopie Trace, Debe to announce the end of the “limited hunger strike.”

Kubs don't realise that his greatest mistake was his commitment. After he show the country that he is a professional faster (I.e. fastest man in T&T) he really feel he could use a hunger strike to put pressure on anyone again.

Next time he go on hunger strike the pm know she have 9 months before she hada acknowledge him. That's enough time to build a new flyover with corruption and delays.

Lawll

ENVIRONMENTALIST Dr Wayne Kublalsingh will end his hunger strike tomorrow almost nine months after he began his second hunger strike.

Kublalsingh told the Express yesterday the people of Debe and Mon Desir needed him to fight for them and he could not remain on a bed any longer.

The activist who has engaged in two hunger strikes in an attempt to get Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar to change the route of the extension of the Solomon Hochoy Highway to Point Fortin said he was feeling healthy but very weak.

The leader of the Highway Re-Route Movement (HRM) said a news conference was planned for today at Gopie Trace, Debe, to announce the end of the “limited hunger strike”.

It has been 288 days since Kublalsingh has claimed to have been abstaining from solid foods and instead surviving on water, tulsi leaves and liquids.

He plans to break his hunger strike with prayers and eating something light.

Kublalsingh said: “I will do morning prayer. I have mango tree behind my house. I will go and pray for a couple of hours, do my morning meditation there. I will start eating on Wednesday morning. I will probably eat some light thing, have some tulsi (leaf) and water as I normally do and I will have something light. I will ask my mother to make something for me.”

Kublalsingh has been staying at his parents' home in Claxton Bay for some time.

He said: “I cannot lie down here anymore. In my view, this sacrifice and prayer have moved events in our favour, I don't want to say what they are, let those who have eyes to see and those who have ears to hear. Things are going to move politically and economically in our favour, I am sure of that.

“People on the ground have been really severely abused because Nidco (National Infrastructure Development Company) is trying to push the work and expedite the work between Debe and Mon Desir and elections are coming up. I think it is now time for me to rise and fight again as I have always fought. Secondly I think they did bad enough to shape the cosmos, meaning move things in our favour, and I think those things will happen."

Fight to the finish

For the news conference today, Kublalsingh said: “I will be walking on the land and making it clear to the people there at that area where they working next to the camp that we don't want any interchange there.”

HRM also did not want an interchange at Penal, Siparia and Fyzabad.

He said he was not sure exactly how HRM was going to fight against those constructions.

“We just do the things that we normally do which is fight to the finish,” Kublalsingh said.

And he boasted of not being ill during the hunger strike even with the flu.

He said: “I feel pretty healthy and I just feel weak and I can't walk properly. I have to feed myself for the next couple of weeks before I can go out in the field again.”

Kublalsingh's first hunger strike ended in 2012 after 21 days and much attention from local and international supporters.

During the second hunger strike, Kublalsingh said he only received intravenous fluids once while being treated at the St Clair Medical Centre.

Exactly.

Man say he going on a hunger strike, no food, no water; government didn't blink so he just kept upping the ante to the point he became a joke and nobody but the most gullible would believe what he was saying.

Then, when his "hunger strike" got to the point that the Guinness Book of Records would be interested, he start to change his tune and was 'absorbing nutrients' all kinds of mystical ways, and when even that stretched way past incredulity, started with this leaf nonsense.

The man is beyond parody. I think he needs a psychiatric evaluation. John Oliver should do a skit on him.

didnt he end up being right about all the corruption that took place? the Highway is not completed, materials were left to be stolen and/or rotted away....the flicking creek in a mess, grants road like the bocas....the highway from Oropouche to rousillac is most times overgrown in bush....

the only piece we can call a highway is the san fernando to debe stretch....which was narrowed...

7 Billion dollar project....

why fight a losing battle? it's better sometimes to know when to quit.

And there are reports his family is ting was getting rough up by people who want the highway.

No shame in reaiising one's depth has been reached.

And what if that kant is the reason it not completed? How much work he held back with his protest?
Then as election come and gone, he disappear. Election come and all who originally was supposed to eat the food getting to eat it. For who not in the know, brand new equipment was purchased for the job and remained parked up until. And I not talking no 1 truck and an excavator eh. That contractor get some land where the highway passing too and not a 1 lot or 2 lot.

Also saw a line of trucks without plates making their way down the creek yestetday too. Police and namalco escort. Maybe 20 or more trucks.

If there was any doubt about Kublalsingh's sincerity, it evaporated when the new Government announced the plan to complete the highway with nary a word, or fast from him.

:? :?
What was expected? that every single thing would still be there? Maybe Rambachan should have stored it by him. Do you live in Trinidad and Tobago? Do you not know the larcenous nature of us? Was the grass supposed to cooperate and not grow? Was the project stopped yesterday? The PNM will surely run their own racket in completing this project, just like the last admin.

fellas does need remuneration first.

But then if there is evidence of bobol, does the Government have this in secret? Is any bobol uncovered not enough to stop re-initiation?
