Relative is a "relative" word.

Relatives can and will rob you and steal from you normal normal .

These "bandit relatives" have been around since days of Moses .

On Christmas Day & the 14 TT Holidays they come into your house eat & drink everything in sight .

Best thing to do is keep your business to yourself.

Lock your doors. Loose the PitBulls .

And fly to Barbados for the Holidays .

Dancin' Dillon Says

Dillon condemns attack by residents, urges citizens to respect law

Minister of National Security Edmund Dillon on Tuesday condemned the fatal attack on Ashdale Mc Hutchinson and has urged citizens to respect the rule of law.

He died at hospital on Sunday after being beaten by residents of Oropune Gardens.

Mc Hutchinson was hogtied and badly beaten after he allegedly attempted to lure a six-year old girl away from a family and friends; a claim his family has denied.

In a statement on Tuesday, Minister Dillon offered condolences to the man’s family.

Dillon noted that prior to making a citizen’s arrest, police should have been immediately alerted rather than residents resorting to taking the matter into their own hands.

He is calling on citizens to respect the rule of law when executing a citizen’s arrest.

“Citizens have the power under the Criminal Law Act Chapter 10:04 Section 3 (2) to make a citizen’s arrest in two instances: if a person is in the act of committing an arrestable or serious offense, or was witnessed committing an offence. Anything outside of these parameters would be considered illegal, especially if assault is involved,” he said.

Dillon also called on citizens to work closely with law enforcement in their respective communities in an effort to reduce crime and lawlessness.

What Dillweed doesn't realise — or more likely chooses not to acknowledge — is that people are getting desperate because the authorities have failed to keep citizens safe.

It would be interesting to know what is Sh!tkicker's take on all of this. After all this is the man who said of the previous administration: “…if the Gov’t can’t deal with it (crime) then the Gov’t itself is part of the problem"...ent?...:|

JUHN Scarfy will blame the Police as usual, and take himself entirely out of the sphere of responsibility. Then he will retain his asinine and misplaced confidence in Dancer Boy Dullon. Then kantulal randolphinshan will appear shortly to ask his usual, but always dotish, "ollour feel JUHN Scarfy go run dong criminal personally" sheit rhetorical question. Meanwhile people will die by the hundreds normel normel.

Just another HDC development casual day .

HDC Housing is like a public free roaming prison system .

HDC development should focus on community building .

Another reason why the gov't is in control. Use this for their benefit. They will twist it all how. In the end , they will blame everybody ..nothing will come out of it. We need our rights to be more powerful than the criminals in order to deal with this. Police is limited. We witnessing everything on a daily basis. If there was a way to put up a method directly there.

This is what voter padding looks like. The same thing they trying to do in St Augustine.

Oropune gardens years ago used to be agricultural land and cultivated by a few farmers. The PNM under Manning took the land and built cheap housing in an attempt to voter pad. I don't have numbers but anecdotal evidence suggests many of the people there were relocated from Laventille and other PNM strongholds. This lawless behavior then is not so surprising if you know the history of Oropune.
You could take them out of PNM areas but you can't take the PNM behavior/criminality out of them.

The HArd workig honest business people of this place are absolutely Fed-up and have had enough, and should have the ability and Authority to rid this nation of any threat at any opportunity.

A SAN JUAN couple who went to Lucky Street in La Romaine to buy a car yesterday evening luckily escaped being robbed by two gunmen.

It was the fifth incident of a similar nature in less than two weeks where men in La Romaine lured their victims with fake online car advertisements. The other buyers were not so lucky as the gunmen stole thousands of dollars intended for the purchase of cars.

Southern Division police are warning people not to respond to advertisements from the La Romaine district. The criminals are creating fake profiles and do not have any vehicles, police said.

Police said the latest victims, a man and his wife, saw an advertisement on Facebook and responded to view and purchase the car.

On arrival at Lucky Street at about 6.30 pm on Wednesday, a gunman flagged down the car.

When the car stopped, the gunman switched off the ignition. The wife ran off while the husband and the gunman fought.

The incident occurred in full view of passers-by and the gunman and an accomplice ran off empty-handed.

Cpl Crawford, PCs Maharaj and Charles of San Fernando CID together with police of the Southern Division Task Force visited the scene and searched for the suspect.

An arrest is yet to be made.

June7th

Trinidad and Tobago may have the highest murder rate in history this year if the current crime rate continues.

In an interview with LoopTT, economist Marla Dukharan said Trinidad and Tobago can no longer ignore the rising cost of crime, which continues to increase despite rising expenditure by state agencies in a bid to treat with crime.

Approximately 550 people were murdered in Trinidad and Tobago in 2008, the highest number ever, while in 2017 approximately 494 murders were recorded.

As of June 7, 2018, the murder rate for 2018 stands at 240 according to updates from the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service(TTPS) - almost half of 2017’s tally.

Dukharan said it is clear that the taxpayers are not getting value for money as the funds being put into crime fighting are not bringing results.

She referred to a 2017 report by the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) called ‘The costs of crime and violence: new evidence and insights in Latin America and the Caribbean’, which looked at crime in the Caribbean and Latin American region.

She said that at the time of the study, Trinidad and Tobago spent more money on crime that any other country in the Caribbean/Latin American region, but had the lowest detection rate.

“We’re seeing in Trinidad and Tobago that homicide rates are rising again. Right now Trinidad and Tobago is on track to have its highest homicide rate ever in history. (The IDB) found that homicides involving firearms reached 72.6 percent (in 2014) in Trinidad and Tobago, which is the third highest in the region after the Bahamas and Jamaica.”

“The IDB said public expenditure on crime per capita is highest in Trinidad and Tobago at US$460.60 per capita, per annum, which is more than double the regional average of US$194.50,” she said.

She added that the percentage of businesses that spent money on security is also the highest in the region.

“In the whole region, we are the highest. 85 percent of businesses (spent money on security) according to the IDB study in 2012 and 2013 in Trinidad and Tobago.”

However, the detection rate at the time of the study was also the lowest in the region.

The staggering drop in the detection rate was shown from an average of 64.8 percent murder detection rate from 1990-1999 which plummeted to 13 percent by 2013.

“This means that although we have the highest spend per capita on crime in the region, we have the lowest detection rate. It means our money is not delivering results, the money government is spending, taxpayers’ dollars, is not delivering results. The detection rate then (in 2012-2013) was only 13 percent, and it has been extremely low and declining since then,” she said.

The study also showed that T&T had the 11th highest crime rate in the world in 2015, according to a UN study, and the rate has since risen.

“Trinidad and Tobago had the highest crime-related costs in the entire Caribbean and Latin American region at US$1189 per capita per annum, and third highest as a percentage of GDP (Gross Domestic Product) at 3.52 percent (based on 2014 data).”

“We know this will have gotten worse, it will be a higher percent of GDP now as GDP has declined since then and we know that the cost of crime has gone up as the homicide rate has gone up since then,” she said.
