pea brother is a clinical epidemiologist with a Master's degree from Oxford and a PhD from McMasters. His thesis was in "Clinical practice and public health guidelines: The making of appropriate strong recommendations when the confidence in effect estimates is low (2015)."

He is a bona fide expert in the field. And he's also a good example on why you shouldn't be blindly trusting experts.

Nobody knows for sure how this thing is going to go down. Everything is subject to rapid change. You do what makes sense at the time and don't get too attached because what we all thought was correct might be wrong.

Given the changes we are seeing now with viral evolution, waning efficacy, and the fact Africa is handling this thing far better than Europe or the US - maybe PEA brother was right? I do not know, I don't have a Masters from Oxford on public health like PEA brother does.
