Before becoming more aware of the differences in tires ie. compound type, sidewall construction, tread wear etc I purchased a set of those Chinese ling long 225/40/18 the side wall started to crack.When i inquired at the tire shop about this they said it was due to under inflation but what it was was poor side wall construction which caused a blow out doing a lane change that almost killed me so for all who would spend tens of thousands on a vehicle and want to skimp on the tires just remember the only part of the car in contact with the road is the tires...........................
