d police could bring breathalyzer in they tail now if they was drunk (assuming they still alive that is) i think that is standard procedure under the new law when accidents happen

A 59-year-old man was killed when his out-of-control van crossed the median along the Solomon Hochoy Highway and crashed head-on into a taxi on Tuesday night.

Duncan Johnson was heading south, driving his gold-coloured pick-up van near Edinburgh Village, Chaguanas, when he lost control of the vehicle. The van slammed into a white Nissan Sunny heading in the opposite direction.

Back-seat passengers in the taxi-Davernand Bhola, 46, his wife, Sherry Ann, 27, and their two-year-old son, Christopher -suffered severe injuries, police said.

The accident occurred shortly before 8 p.m.

John, of Edinburgh 500, was thrown from his vehicle and died on impact, police said.

His death pushed the road-fatality figure to 175 for the year.

The Bhola family was taken to the Chaguanas Health Facility and transferred to the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex in Mt Hope.

Chaguanas police are investigating the crash.
