^^So granted there may be some truth to your statement, you think that the media only hear about 1 in 2 or 3 murders? In an island with a population lower than any major city? C'mon!

So 1500+ murders a year...

That would mean we are by far the MOST murderous nation (per capita) in the world. And in the top 15 TOTAL amount of murders per year.

-Trinis love to sensationalize everything  I mean it's bad enough it's at 500, but 2-3 times the amount is getting carried away.

Obviously not 2 to 3 times, but in Trinidad, as well as every country, there are does who commit murder and leave little or no evidence.

Look at the missing persons list....it is obvious that 2/3 of them have been murdered....yet no body is found.

Here are 3 unreported murders that I've heard about that were never counted or noted in the media,
1. Private Police beat and killed a man who was harassing a friend's wife. Body never ever found.
2. Another revenge killing in south again a man who alledgedly raped a girl in the area. Body dumped on Forest, police do know, but no crime ever reported or recorded there. (this was in Flanagin).
3. Saw the remains of a body while hiking via binoculars in heights of Gunapo. Reported it to police, but never heard anything out of it.

I'm sure there's a lot more than that....possibly like 50 to 100 a year I assume.

Man stabbed to death

Thursday, September 16 2010

THE country’s murder toll rose to 358, when 34-year-old Jerome Martin was killed by a female relative on Tuesday night.

Police reported that at about 9 pm, police officers on mobile patrol along Park Street, Port-of-Spain, noticed a large crowd gathered outside the Globe Cinema situated at the corner of Park and St Vincent Streets.

Upon investigating, they learnt that an argument had broken out between Martin and a woman resulting in the woman breaking a beer bottle and stabbing Martin repeatedly with the sharp end of the bottle.

The officers followed a trail of blood and found Martin lying on the road a short distance away from the crowd. The semi-conscious man was rushed to the Port-of-Spain General Hospital where he died while receiving treatment.

Police have since detained a 26-year-old woman in connection with the incident. Investigations are continuing.
