It could work but it have hard core PNM supporters that dont want a white boy to lead then. Remember the black power movement of the early 70s.

Not an interpretation, its a fact at that time the elite that control trini and had the best jobs were of white descent.
Hard core trin Afros,PNM, uwi students and trade unions found that this had to stop and the best jobs should not be given to white folks. At the time nearly all bank employees where white.
This is where the downfall of Trini began and continues.

Stuepz race has nothing to do with the leadership of the party, it only stems to encourage race talks, we need to step out of this hole that started with Eric Williams and proceed to a constructive thinking that can involve the views of younger minds with vision and the ability to see this world as it is now. these older heads may have the experience but are molded in the pattern of extremists that only seem to know how to push blame instead of fixing issues. Rowley is not fit to be the leader due to his arrogance that pushed him out of favor with his own team, but who in the PNM party can really hold this mantle... we need to look outside.

Louis himself wishes this, but the hard core PNMites will not allow this. There are 3 groups of PNM fighting among themselfs

So thats a problem for everyone to have the opportunity to work wherever once qualified? Or should it be that only certain people based on race should get jobs?

the day that a black man cld lead the unc/pp and a indian cld lead the pnm is the day i will smile about trinidad politics. till then 90-95% of voting in trinidad is based on race. if you cant agree mean you ignorant to the fact about how racially divided trinidad really is.

Trae, I agree with you,but Rowley is not fit to lead because of much more than that.Mr Manning might be called a lot of things, but nobody could call him a racist or a thief. He was the supreme statesman and what he said about rowley should as a warning.Penny Beckles is an excellent choice but would never get the support,Al Rawi is a genius but lacks the charisma, and is too white for the party.Imbert, and all the rest are big failures.Rowley was presented with a golden opportunity and he squandered it with his rabble rousing(there are different ways to say the same thing without being so rowdy and confrontational). Also he has alienated a lot of Indians by his remarks,eg what is so special about Penal and Chaguanas, and thus makes the PNM seem like an african party, which might cost the PNM the next election.Watch in aPP rally the numbers of African people but look at the PNM rallies and you will notice a deficiency of Indians.Rowley has a lot of work to do to correct this if The PNM is ever to see the corridors of power again.Magnum est PNM and prevalebit, but not under Rowley.

Tribal politics that zoom zader subscribes too. When someone can say that they not voting for a particular party regardless of the changes made to their internal and external governance and procedures but because u perceive it to be a black, white or yellow party then ur a tribal sheep. Well said. People like rfari admit they backing PNM because they are the lesser of two evils. But they’re still evil, and the party that’s in opposition always seems to be the “lesser evil” until they get into gov’t.

As long as PNM/UNC continue to be in power, expect corruption to be the order of the day. We had a chance for meaningful change in 1981 with ONR and in 2007 with COP but we were too afraid to give them a chance. Both parties had to merge with the opposition party for the next election or risk irrelevance. ONR never survived and the COP might go the same way.

Unless we stop being fooled by the rum and roti politics, and thinking that the only choice we have is between the lesser of two evils, then we can expect another 50 years of political scandals, waste and mismanagement of our country’s resources.

what can we implement to ensure a better future? can we come up with some ideas then use these ideas to force the government into implementing? all this quarrel eh solving nothing, we need to make moves in public to force a change.
