^ um if Linx/CC machine is down due to network or power failure merchants resort to using this - either that or you go get cash

Remember that with the Republic Bank BankCard too well. Back in those days merchants were given an allotment of slips that they used for customers. If you ran out of those slips, then you couldn't take the card as payment. Some merchants outside of Trinidad still use that method though, had it done with me in Panama, Guyana and Suriname.

We are still in the old age of doing business sorry to say , not to bash our sweet TT for the way we do things locally but from my personal experience only trinidad does the writing down ID numbers. Very old practice .

This is subjective to merchant , person , experience cashing etc etc . In other parts of the world who may know or may not know cc transactions are a no brainer , you don't even have to enter your PIN or show any form of ID in some instances , it's called " no contact " . Just bring your cc close to a receiver and wala transaction complete

The world mainly US and majority of Europe have gone this route already
