Bro I am an hse officer.... It varies where u work and who u work for. Contractors in the construction field wanna pay small money like 200-300 max per day. Pt lisas pay like around 35-40 per hour with a contractor. To get tru with a company in pt Lisa's it's very hard seeing that they only need around 4 officers for a plant and if they need more they would pull an operator or any one in the department to do the job if they are short staffed. I suggest u study something else other than hse. Don't place all your money on one bet so to say. Offshore and petro is extremely hard to get tru to and they don't really look for ppl with hse passes so often..... They look for ppl with an environmental science degree to stand a chance.

lately I seeing private businesses asking private inspections and looking to get HSE policy and mandates for their business..You could also register a safety company and do private jobs on the side and see how that goes.

hearing so much mixed views about this program eh,some saying its not organised at all, other saying the opposite.

I'm doing this programe right now. It's a well rounded programe where it goes in depth into all sections of an organization, the building itself and it's people. Lectures are based on the various types of industries. Nothing is left out, and I'm talking from experience. Everything that you learn in the class is experienced in the field and vice versa. In a nutshell, it's basic common sense once you adapt to hse culture. Some of the lectures I even use as tool box topics at work. Lecturers are both local and foreign along with some field trips and multiple single and group projects.

At the end of the program you are required to submit a thesis.

However you need to have a Upper Seconds to First Class Honors to get in from your undergraduate B.Sc.

My recommendation is to go do it. You need as much qualifications as you can, there is nothing to lose in earning this M.Sc.
