Trinidadian Muhammad “Hummy” Ali wins the Modified vs Radials and sets both a new 4-Cylinder track record and 4-Cylinder MPH record at the 2018 Haltech World Cup Finals and 2018 Fuel Tech World Sports Compact Challenge VIII, respectively.
Team Tekno Toyz Motorsport represented Trinidad and Tobago over the last week across two events where they were able to set new records in their Mazworx SR20 powered S15 chassis. Ali was able to shatter the World Record for the Quickest 4-Cylinder with a time of 6.22s at 226.81mph at the Orlando Speedworld Drag way during the Fueltech World Sports Compact Challenge, a long term goal of the team since inception. The previous record being a 6.23s set by Stenstrom Racing (Sweden), earlier this year.
This however was not the end of the competition year for the team as they mobilized to the Maryland International Raceway for the Haltech World Cup Finals to compete in the Modified vs Radials class, sponsored by ATI Performance Products.
Ali qualified 1st out of twenty-two competitors with a time of 6.34s at 223.69mph. Following qualify was three rounds of competition before the finals, where Ali went up against Carlos Olivo of El Karma (Mazda RX8) and emerged victorious.
