too early in the game to decide, just cause its the first quad core doesn't mean that we should run it down

Does Bmobile or Digicel have any LOCAL CDMA support? I got a Droid Incredible but it's CDMA (Verizon). Anyone know a work-around? GSM sucks. Why did our local companies skip 3G and go straight to 4G?

Help.

So I finally got the courage to root my S2 and even install custom MIUI ROM

Good thing I backed up the original samsung rom yes. MIUI real nice and everything BUT its waaaaaaay to slow. Well ok here is what I mean, you can see the touch sensitivity in the screen is way off. You can see it stutters its fast but not smooth like it misses a few FPS when its scrolling through the menu.

Nightmare to use to be honest. Reinstalled the stock one the phone came with and just using go launcher.

I wish I could change the EDGE sign and edge / battery color on the top menu of the original samsung rom.

From what I See like it can omly be done if you install a custom rom

correct me if I am wrong.

Used to use JKay mod when I had my SGS2...but that was on GB..check it out and see if it's been updated on XDA

As Jonathan said, use JKay's, the best mod for people running stock Samsung Roms, trust me and trust Jonathan, you just have to run the firmware that he is creating the ROM for which is usually the latest XW or XX firmwares

He may not have updated his mod for ICS yet, but you are going to stay on stock Samsung Roms, it is worth the wait

One thing i wanted to find out is why web browsing on my s2 is so much smoother than my gaming pc. i mean those flash sites like tube 8 are so slow and buggy on windows 7 yet the phone is slower cpu and less ram yet it scrolls the sites smooth as butter.

I updated my SGII to ICS and now it permanently displays my sim contacts alongside my phone contacts(which wasn't the case with GB). Now I know you can filter which contacts to show in the settings but once you leave the contacts application and re-enter, it reverts to the default of showing all. Is there anything I can do?

is the same rom that jonathan said. achiilies posted the link abovey my post just acroll up and u go see it. i taught i would brick my phone but once u root it gets cwm and you just backup ur original os and u can never brick it. cause u boot into it with the phone off and hold volume up and power and bottom key at rhe samee time. also i pelt out all them nasty widgets and apps that came with the phone hardwidred. just dont remove anything thqt has com in it. u download ru uninstaller on ur roted android.

You don't need to root to install ICS on the Galaxy S2. The official build has been released, you just need to use ODIN to install it. However, it comes with Touchwiz, so you can use Apex Launcher to get the default ICS look. (disclaimer, if it's been mentioned before, I didn't read through the whole thread).

Search for I9100UHLPE_I9100UUBLPE_TTT

I have installed it and it runs much smoother (probably better utilisation of the two cpu cores), and has better battery life. Only one force close in a month, but that was my fault.

In the Contacts setings, you will see Contacts to display. Select Customise, then SIM, and then remove the tick from the checkbox "All Contacts".
Save the changes by clicking the tick in the upper right hand corner, then you should be set.

sentraman wrote:How do you do a factory reset and will i have to reinstall all my apps

You can enter the Galaxy's recovery mode (google it) then clear cache which is essentially a factory reset.

Once you're apps are downloaded with the Play Store, they should re-install once you log in with your google account. Or you could do a Kies backup. But just in case, remember the names of all the apps that you use.

You normally have to wipe your cache/factory reset after you do an OS update. I normally do it before and after.

I've had less stability issues with ICS on the S2 vs GB, and I am using an official build.

Tried that sadly and I still seem to be having the same issue. Really don't want to have to delete all my sim contacts.

To all guys that are rooting and flashing roms, be sure to back up your EFS partition, it is one of the most important things you can do when you are using a SGS2.

Non rooted users should also do it by rooting, backing up the EFS and un rooting, I have known of cases where people's EFS partition got borked during a Kies upgrade(never rooted)

The tool found in this thread is probably one of the easiest ways to do this backup.

Google Play Link

If the EFS partition gets damaged, your phone just became a 4.3inch tablet, as it would not recognize the sim card or access any mobile network

Only means of repair is sending it back to Samsung or paying an XDA developer a few US dollars to get it back

I installed the same stock rom posted but it never worked I did the flash and everything on the theme.zip file and nothing happened.

Not sure if I was supposed to download some actual rom cause the theme is 7MB hmm

Anyways I decided to install the previous MIUI ROM. from last week this was the last GB before the ICS>

Works much smoother than the ICS one. I think I happy with this. It freezes sometimes if you download new themes and apply it once Ihad to take out the battery from the phone but apart from that its not that buggy.

I might keep it a while I really want to give MIUI another try its like possibly the best ROM

Its themes are incredible

Try installing this rom, i'm currently using it, and it's the fastest rom i come across, also removes the yellow triangle you get when you root your phone.

ok after trying a bunch of roms I finally found the perfect one. Works like lightning its Cyanogen ICS

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthr ... ?t=1419102

Best part is it takes the webpages in your browser and gives you the option to invert the black and white

so now my entire webpage is black and words is white.

OLED screens save 40% current if the screen displays black. BUT burns 40% MORE than LCD to display white.

A brilliant man made Cyanogen rom and now I can do that. Legendary battery life now.

Must thank my friend from NetvantageTT who guided me through the process of rooting my phone via baby steps. Now I know the benefits.

I tell you its a scary thing flashing a $4k phone but man when you do its epic.

Also forgot to mention after you flash with that cyanogen ICS rom you wont have android market you need to go to CWM in boot mode and install zip

http://cmw.22aaf3.com/gapps/gapps-ics-2 ... signed.zip

thats what you downloading and installing. It will flash that and you will have your google play.
Man I can't express how handy these custom roms is. The battery icon ontop the screen displays the battery BUT BUT BUT also displays the percentage next to it. Real handy.
