Speak to the police...
PM on 'assassination plot':e Government Ministers, Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar said yesterday.

Persad-Bissessar was responding to questions on the call by Opposition Leader Dr Keith Rowley for her to appoint an independent enquirer to probe the alleged plot.

Rowley has maintained that the plot was not real as national security sources had discredited it in an evaluation of the information.

"My only comment is ask the police, speak to the police, those are police matters, it was brought to my attention, I did not announce the plot, I was advised of it by senior police officers therefore it is a police matter, I do not know how appropriate it is for me to go into a police matter at this point of time," said Persad-Bissessar.
I knew full blame was going to be put on the police, because it was not the PM that was all up in the news conference talking about treason etc right? It was not a police matter at that time right?
STEUPS...

She was speaking to reporters following the opening ceremony of the fourth Caricom-Cuba Summit at the National Academy for Performing Arts (NAPA) in Port of Spain.

Some 17 persons were detained on suspicion of being involved in the alleged plot, however they were all released on Monday because of insufficient evidence.

Questioned as to whether she was concerned about this, the Prime Minister said, "we operate within the law, we continue to operate within the law and that's the message it sent, we will always as far as I'm concerned...continue so to try to do".

"Justice is alive and kicking, your rights will not be breached unnecessarily. If under the State of Emergency you were detained and there was not sufficient evidence to take to a court...then the law takes it course, let the law take its course," she added.

The Prime Minister disclosed that she held a brief meeting on Tuesday with national security heads.

"...I am not advised of anything that should have me unnecessarily concerned, there is always cause for concern anywhere you are, but there's nothing that made me fear any greater than I feared on the first day, I fear none but my God," she said.

Questioned on the plan of the trade unions to hold a demonstration today, Persad-Bissessar said, "we live in a democratic society and the trade unions are free to take whatever actions within our laws that they feel appropriate."

lol. what a joke.

it's obvious they thought they'd get some political sympathy/mileage, from an assassination plot...especially with all the egg on their faces, from the SOE.

i'm actually really concerned now, that this is the bunch we have in office.

strap in ladies and gents, it's likely to be a bumpy ride.

^Trip's list got so granular you could just see the Baliser printed on he forehead. Really buses splitting in two is the Government fault? I guess so too the rainfall that causes flooding.

There are some valid points but you went and spoil it with quite a lot of opinions and not fact.
