I saw the Guyanese President take on a racist, colonialist BBC interviewer, Stephen Sackur, and put him in his place.

Another Prime Minister would have been kissing the interviewer's toes and telling him how great he is. That PM could only bark at his own people.

Yes because we all know that Rowley is afraid to confront reporters, the UK govt , the UN and even President Trump.

PM slams UK High Commissioner's response to BBC story
Dareece PoloSeptember 17, 2019 05:25 PM ET

Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley has criticised the British High Commissioner's response to the BBC's coverage of the Government's handling of the Venezuelan migrant situation.

In a media conference on Monday, Dr Rowley announced he was going to formally complain to the UK Government about the BBC feature called The Displaced: When 40,000 people hit a tiny island, whichwas released earlier that day, as he said it misrepresented the country.

High Commissioner Tim Stew, on the official page - UK in Trinidad and Tobago - British High Commission, Port of Spain - said his Government would not intervene

"The Government have brought to my attention a BBC documentary on Venezuelan migrants. As I have said, the UK’s commitment to freedom of expression means that the UK media, including BBC, are independent of the UK Government."

However, seemingly unimpressed, Dr Rowley pointed out that the BBC is a state-owned media house. He further demanded a better response.

"The BBC gets billions of pounds from the UK Government to carry on their business. They mirror and reflect British Government policy. The UK Government determines and causes all television users to pay a licence fee to them. They send coded messages around the world for the British Government. That is not the response we want from him. He must respond to whether the BBC presented our Venezuelan situation in a truthful and professional manner."

Guys, let's not ridicule 88 if he wants to come out but is unable to express his feelings in a conventional manner. He's probably also angry at himself for enjoying his encounters so much that he'll lash out whenever Rowley does something positive.

Don't worry, I understand that it's probably difficult. I forgive you for your outbursts, it's understandable that you were born that way.

I find it rather amusing to see how easily offended political fanatics get when you say anything unflattering regarding their chosen political party, and how they get livid when what's said is actually true

Venezuela's President Nicolás Maduro has made a startling accusation directed towards the United States. President Maduro has claimed that Washington has built "secret military bases" in Guyana's oil-rich region Essequibo. In recent months, Maduro has escalated his campaign to claim Essequibo - an oil rich region of Guyana. America maintains strong diplomatic ties with Guyana, providing them with military assistance and support. How significant are Maduro's claims and do they carry any substance?

American fighter jets were seen in the skies above Guyana on 9 May, as the small South American country navigates a tense border dispute with neighbouring Venezuela.

The sortie involved two Boeing F/A-18 Super Hornet strike fighters, launched from the aircraft carrier USS George Washington with “collaboration and approval” from the Guyanese government, according to the US embassy in Georgetown.

A photo released by the US embassy shows a pair of fleet grey, twin-engined Super Hornets flying low in close formation over Guyana’s capital city.

Caricom cautions Venezuela on act of aggression against Guyana

CARICOM is calling on Venezuela to remove its military vessel from Guyana’s maritime territory and to refrain from interacting with any Floating Production Storage and Offloading platform located there.

In a statement, Caricom said the incident happened on March 1. It said acts of aggression and provocation were contrary to international law and the 2023 Argyle Declaration.

The declaration refers to an agreement by leaders of both Venezuela and Guyana not to use nor threaten to use force, directly or indirectly, in any dispute between them but to rely on international law including the 1966 Geneva Agreement in their dispute over the Essequibo region.

“This provocative incident of 1 March 2025 initiated by Venezuela runs counter to the agreed commitment of Caricom and the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC) to ensure that the Caribbean region remains a Zone of Peace. It is critical that there be a peaceful resolution of the border controversy as is expected under the International Court of Justice, which already has conduct over the dispute.”

It said, as discussed in the Argyle Declaration, a resolution to the territorial dispute over the Esequibo region was possible without any acts of provocation or aggression so patience, calm and non-provocation were necessary on both sides.

“Caricom reiterates its well-known position which is unequivocal and unwavering support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Guyana.”
