Good ol’ Apple is charging a buck for the final version of FaceTime on the Mac. The reason? Probably to get people into the Mac App Store, get a purchase under their belt and of course get their credit card entered into the system.

Oh and it does 720P on supported Intel Macs.

FaceTime for Mac makes it easy to talk, smile and laugh with friends and family on their iPhone 4, iPod touch or Mac. Getting started is quick and easy — simply enter your Apple ID and you’re ready to go. Whether you’re talking to someone on an iPhone or on another Mac, video calls with FaceTime look great. There’s no better way to stay in touch with all your favorite faces.

Processor wrote:Up to 2x faster processors and 3x faster graphics.

Next-generation quad-core and dual-core Intel processors.
The 13-inch MacBook Pro now features a 2.3GHz Intel Core i5 processor or the fastest dual-core processor available — the 2.7GHz Intel Core i7. With Turbo Boost speeds up to 3.4GHz, these processors allow the 13-inch MacBook Pro to perform up to twice as fast as the previous generation.

But we couldn’t leave fast enough alone. The new 15- and 17-inch models bring quad-core power to almost everything you do. The available 2.3GHz quad-core Intel Core i7 processor — with Turbo Boost speeds up to 3.4GHz and up to 8MB of shared L3 cache — enables these MacBook Pro models to run applications up to twice as fast as their top-of-the-line predecessors.

Graphics wrote:The graphics performance you need, when you need it.
The integrated Intel HD Graphics 3000 processor — now included across the MacBook Pro lineup — handles the things you do every day. It encodes video quickly, making HD video calls with FaceTime possible. And it decodes efficiently, so you get long playback time for DVDs and iTunes movies.

For graphics-intensive applications, the 15- and 17-inch MacBook Pro models automatically switch to new high-performance AMD Radeon graphics processors. With up to 3x the performance of the previous models, they let you see more frames per second in 3D games, or work on HD video projects with more speed and responsiveness than before.

Thunderbolt wrote:Imagine accessing multiple streams of uncompressed HD video — from your notebook — at speeds that let you edit an HD feature film in real time. That’s how Thunderbolt technology will connect the next generation of high-performance peripherals to the next generation of computers — starting with MacBook Pro. Ultrafast and ultraflexible, the Thunderbolt pipeline is more than 12 times faster than FireWire 800 and up to 20 times faster than USB 2.0, and it offers unprecedented expansion capabilities. It changes what you can do on a notebook.

The Thunderbolt port will give you plug-and-play performance with a whole new world of Thunderbolt peripherals, as well as with the Apple LED Cinema Display and other Mini DisplayPort peripherals. You can daisy-chain as many as six devices, including your display. And with support for video and eight-channel audio, it’s easy to connect HDMI-compatible devices — like your TV and home stereo — using the HDMI adapter you already have. Current VGA, DVI, and DisplayPort adapters are also supported.

FaceTime HD wrote:Get more of your friends in the picture with crisp, widescreen HD video. The new FaceTime HD camera gives you three times the resolution of the previous camera — perfect for the brilliant LED-backlit display — along with improved low-light performance. You and your friends can make 720p HD calls from one new MacBook Pro to another. You can also make video calls to other Intel-based Mac computers, iPhone 4, or the new iPod touch.

Trackpad wrote:The Multi-Touch trackpad is the most natural way to interact with what’s on your screen, and the smooth glass surface gives you plenty of room for gestures. Pinch to zoom in and out, swipe to flip through photos, rotate to adjust an image, and much more. The buttonless design lets you click anywhere. And if you’re coming from a right-click world, you can right-click with two fingers or configure a right-click area on the trackpad. The more you use the Multi-Touch trackpad, the more you’ll wonder how you ever did without it.

Battery wrote:The new MacBook Pro delivers amazing battery life. And that’s with more powerful processors and faster graphics. An energy-efficient processor architecture with an integrated video encoder, along with automatic graphics switching in the 15- and 17-inch models, all help improve battery life. So you can expect to surf the web wirelessly for up to 7 hours on a single charge.5 Or take your entire creative studio on the road for live performances or a location shoot. Advanced chemistry and Adaptive Charging give you up to 1000 full charge and discharge cycles — nearly three times the lifespan of typical notebook batteries.6 And because the MacBook Pro battery lasts up to five years, MacBook Pro uses just one battery in the same time a typical notebook uses three. That’s better for you and for the environment.

Apple is using a new, more rigorous battery test that measures the results you can expect in the real world — like surfing your favorite sites in a coffee shop or catching up on the latest web videos. Even using this new test, MacBook Pro delivers amazing battery life. For your real life.

While there has been a lot of Apple news today, we can't forget that one of the founders of the company, Steve Jobs, has a birthday. Yep, Steve turns 56 today, and health concerns aside we hope he has a great one.

Over the years he's had a profound influence on our daily lives. From revolutionizing the computer industry to unleashing the creatitve power of Pixar to re-inventing Apple and making it a powerhouse of consumer electronics innovation, Mr. Jobs has almost been a national spokesperson for innovation and good design. A savvy businessman and astute judge of what works and what doesn't when it comes to user-centric design, I think we all owe Steve a debt of gratitude for his uncompromising character and attention to detail.

Man that Lion of Apple's is more like a piñata! Rich with features since it 'burst' onto the scene about the time when the new MacBook Pros did.

Ever since Apple released Mac OS X Lion 10.7 to developers to test, new features have started to become uncovered. 9to5Mac has been doing a great job compiling a list of some new (and pretty lust-worthy) features that are available in the next version of Apple’s operating system for the PC, and here’s a brief recap of what you can expect to see come summer:

TRIM support for super-fast SSD writing
Recovery partition to your startup hard drive removing the need for the OS X installer disc in case something goes wrong
Possible Dropbox-like functionality for MobileMe storage
Find my Mac functionality in Apple’s MobileMe service
    Removed support for PowerPC applications
Removed Front Row (possible it’s only in the seeded development OS, however)
Podcast Producer, a true podcast production tool letting you create various shows, episodes, and effortless edit, upload, and share your podcasts
Yahoo IM! support in iChat including video and audio conferencing, iOS-style symbol keys (hold down a key on your keyboard and an onscreen symbol list appears like in iOS), and live URL previews when you hover over a URL link

There are many more findings in Mac OS X 10.7, but these are some of the exciting smaller ones that haven’t yet been announced.

Ever looked at Android users with envy because they can use apps to turn their phone into a DLNA server, allowing them to stream music from it? Now there’s no need to be envious, AirMusic is here and it’s going to redress the balance.

Priced at $0.99, AirMusic is a simple app that allows the streaming of music from your iDevice to a PS3, Xbox 360 or Windows Media Player. In fact, it’ll work with any DLNA enabled hardware.

In use, AirMusic is simplicity personified. Just fire up the app, power-on your receiving device and you’re pretty much done. From here the instructions depend on what you are trying to stream to. Xbox users will need to select the Music Library and then the device you’re streaming from. PS3 owners will choose the music icon on the cross media bar and then the streaming device. Other DLNA hardware will have its own process, but the idea behind DLNA is that it handles all the handshaking and protocols – it’s streaming made easy.

Who needs an Apple TV? (Me, that's why I am getting one lol)

Download AirMusic for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch

MobileNotifier is a great start to what iOS notifications should really look like. Keep in mind this app is still in beta before you go replacing LockInfo. I’ve been playing with MobileNotifier today and it’s got a lot of potential.
One thing I really like is the ingenious way MobileNotifier makes use of the wasted space while multitasking. When the tray is pulled up, the top of the screen is really just a bunch of empty space. Why not make use of it? MobileNotifier does by putting all your notifications in it. The latest beta also adds support for a lockscreen mode. The app doesn’t currently have any built-in settings but we’ll have to keep in mind it’s an early release of the app.
With an early release comes compatibility issues and bugs. BiteSMS currently doesn’t seem to want to populate in MobileNotifier for me. Hopefully this and several other compatibility issues will be addressed in a future beta. Hit the jump for a couple more screens and to find out how you can grab MobileNotifier!

You can get MobileNotifier for free by adding the following repo to Cydia -

Not sure if you covered this:
iOS 4.3 Baseband 04.10.01 Vulnerable for iPhone 4 Unlock, Confirms Dev Team
http://www.redmondpie.com/unlock-iphone-4-ios-4.3-04.10.01-baseband-vulnerable-confirms-dev-team/
This latest tweet of MuscleNerd confirms baseband commands in iOS 4.3 Beta 3, baseband 04.10.01 which are vulnerable. The team is currently hard at work on trying to invoke them to unlock iPhone 4 on iOS 4.3.
Image
Yesterday, the iPhone Baseband hacker Sherif Hashim provided an update of sorts, on the upcoming Ultrasn0w unlock for iPhone 4. According to him, the baseband crash which he found is confirmed to be working on both the new basebands, that is: 3.10.01 and 2.10.04.

Apple is expected to release iOS 4.3 to public on Wednesday, March 2, at the iPad 2G event. Though don’t expect the Ultrasn0w update to drop right after iOS 4.3 is public. iPhone Dev Team will require at least a couple of weeks for all the standard testing on the final iOS 4.3 code before releasing the updated Ultrasn0w unlock to public.

so those who dont have a factory unlocked iphone 4 on 4.1> OS are pretty relieved.
Although i dont see the point if you paid $4000+ for an iphone4 and it aint unlocked.

Hey I need some help here.
I recently upgraded to the iPhone 3GS from the iPhone 2G. I jailbroke and unlocked the 3GS to firmware 4.2.1 and baseband 6.15. However I can't get the mobile (TSTT) to work. The phone recognizes the Edge connection. I also entered the correct APN in the cellular network section of the phone but it still drops the mobile internet connection when i try to connect. It used to work properly on the 2G iPhone but not on the 3GS.

Does anyone know of any extra settings that need to be entered to get the TSTT internet to work on the phone?

Oh yeah and the 2G iPhone for sale. Gonna flash it over first.

all u need entered is the apn which is "internet" without the quotes.

If it isnt working make sure you clear the NETWORK settings (nothing else) and should work.

had a blackberry for a weekend... hated it. nothing really conclusive yet. They might follow as last year the chip the iPad has. It is rumored that it is a new A5 chip with a new gpu. God alone know how much RAM.
The digitizer that was leaked apparently is said to be fake (im hoping thats not true) and last night the 30pin connector is shaped a lil different and they suggest a keyboard (which i wish is not true)

So far that's it. Hopefully tmrw the iPad gets that new core, etc. so that in turn HOPEFULLY Apple uses it in the new iPhone.

Remember sometime ago they were seeing firmware 3,1 (iphone 4), 3,2 (prototype?), 3,3 (veriphone) and also a 4,1 (maybe unreleased iphone 4G/5/4S). That suggests it may not be like the 2G > 3G refresh and may be new chip etc. (cant find back my post with that)
