Daily, my wifi connection drops on ALL my devices, for a few seconds to a couple minutes. The box was changed and multiple software changes done but there’s no change.

Anyone has experience with this?

Happens but can't say everyone complains that often at the same time.

I ain’t even exaggerating about it being daily. Many months ago I noticed it would happen minutes to 12, now it’s random times throughout the day, but without fail, at least once a day.

Neighbors experience same?
Do you reset your equipment ever so often?

Neighbours aren’t the most tech-savvy persons so I’m not sure if they’d notice, but haven’t asked them. The technician said there was no noise in the area for the longest while.

I haven’t been resetting it very often as of recently, but when I did (once every week or two) there was no change.

Sorry man. You are at their mercies.
In one year I had techs by me on a monthly basis in everyone bad talked their counterparts.
Their customer service aspect was great, got some stories, got some weirdos, made some friends after a guy recognised some t tops I had lying around lol.
My service isn't that bad most times and the others I just couldn't be bothered to have to make time to work around their time to visit.

Happened to me yesterday. Was back up after 10mins. Also didn't see any flow connections when I searched. Only Digicel.

Happens to me too. Sometimes not everyday, sometimes several times a day.

you all using the built-in flow router in the white box?
It's the flow free wifi unfortunately. They programmed it so that it broadcasts as a guest network on the exact same frequency as your signal. You can use a wifi analyser app to check this and see it's the exact same band and frequency as your home signal. If someone happens to use it or even briefly passing near your house with a mobile phone that automatically connects, your own wifi will drop.

Buy a router and just plug it into the back of the flow box and use that instead. A modern WiFi ac router that will adjust to interference accordingly.

I assume you can request flow to disable this 'Flow free wifi' on the modem?

Do I have the option of opting out of this?
Yes, you can opt out at any time. Simple call our contact centre at 1 (868) 223- 3569 or send us an email at FlowWiFisupport@cwc.com and one of our helpful agents will assist. Please note that it may take up to 2 weeks for the Flow Wi-Fi to be disabled on your modem

Call centre process flow:

Step : 1 FLOW BB Customer unwilling to grant access to Flow Wi-Fi.

Step : 2 Customer contacts FLOW call center and speaks to an agent.

Step : 3 Detail explanation of the benefits of Flow Wi-Fi and confirmation.

Step : 4 Agent advises service blocked and reconnect anytime.

Once I opt out, can I still use Flow Wi-Fi?
No. Once you opt out of Flow Wi-Fi you cannot use this service at any location where it is available.

I think it was stated earlier in this thread that you can request to disable the service. AFAIK, if you have a 3rd party wireless router, you could also set the FLOW router to modem mode to disable it.

if you put the flow device on modem mode it will disable flow wifi automatically but you will need a router

It was only a matter of time. Short term it won't look so good for customers, but I think it's a good move in the long run for everyone. To offer higher speeds at better prices and allow people to become more connected with modern bandwidth streaming with no data caps. That's good service for price compared to USA and Canada. They really need to get into Fiber FTTH and offer better ping times to game servers.

By comparison this is Rogers Toronto $CAD before tax:

Still better than Digicel packages and price increase every 4 months.
Rodgers updated their pricing.

been having similar issues with using the wifi on the modem (white box) itself, the wifi drops completely and the SSID disappears till you reset the modem, anyone experiencing this issue? Happens on a daily basis now, had the modem change, same issue.

Mine would cut off around 12 every night, now it’s sometimes around 2/4pm.

Did they take off the “Flow WiFi”? If not, what was the solution?

Yep, using the white box. Thanks for this. It’s unfortunate that I need to relinquish my ability to use Flow WiFi/incur an additional cost of purchasing my own router because of their inability to implement the proper infrastructure that wouldn’t cause my signals to drop.

Some concerns I do have to ensure this is the issue, when my WiFi cuts off, I don’t even see the Flow WiFi option available - but shouldn’t it be if the other person would be connecting to it? Also, since it was a recurring issue around 12am, wouldn’t it be improbable that, every night at that specific time, someone would be using the Flow WiFi?

i dunno. Disable it and see if it's still happening. Doesn't have to be when someone tries to connect, it's just interference which can be random. The router sometimes has scheduled maintenance times from FLOW over the line. The point is that the flow box fighting with itself between the free wifi signal and your own wifi signal because they're both on the exact same frequency. That's stupid design and bad programming.

So plug a network cable from my flow modem to an independent unit and see?

Take a scientific approach. If you have an old router lying around, check it and see if that's the problem.
Go into the FLOW settings page 192.168.0.1 in the white box. Disable the wifi. i.e. go into "modem mode" Save and Restart the box. The new address is now 192.168.100.1 and can only be accessed through a LAN cable to the box.

Plug in the independent router at the back of the white box and then wait over the day and see if the signal drop reoccurs.
If it still happening, then that wasn't the problem and you will have to call Flow and see if they can fix it. (they won't do anything except reset your modem over the line).

If that fixed the problem, invest in a proper WiFi ac router with at least 2 antennas. TP link has dual band ac from $300 and ASUS has from $500. That money kind of hard to spend at this covid lockdown time.

Some routers support multiple radios but your guest network is not a different signal. It is a virtual network that filters guest users while connected. Guests get web access (WAN) but do not get local access (LAN).

I'm using the old flow basic arris non WiFi modem with my own dual band WiFi router and also have a custom public hotspot business WiFi router... Did a area scan and made sure all 3 signals are on unused channels and far from clashing as well... Only time I have issues with flow is when it's nationwide... Wanted to change to the newer modem but see plenty complaints

No you should upgrade because the specs of the new modem are different than the old one. Better and updated internet delivery service. It's kind of like the old 1985 Corolla E80 does work good still, but the 2018 Corolla E210 model just much better at everything from gas mileage to safety.

Modem difference specs

The problem is the built in wifi, which you can disable and purchase a modern WiFi-ac router so you won't have to worry about channel interference again.

CWC just got back to me and claims that they solved the ipv6 exchange routing problem between flow and digicel

When I tested on speedtest I get 10ms to digicel server from flow

So the issue has apparently been solved, I could hardly believe this

Complaining actually works yes

We can now game p2p between flow and digicel

Yaaaay the packers no longer have to go miami and back to Trinidad it's now routed in the same island this is Amazing
