I was most disappointed. I was looking forward to Marine One escorting the Beast !!!

Correct, the standard tactical plan is to always have M1 fly close support should the need arise for a quick pickup and fast return to AF1.

They did two ground runs today, but never got airborne. Around 2:30pm they pushed her back into the hangar. Go figure. :?

The only airborne surveillance platforms wee Viper 1, Paradise 1 and Dragon 1, all local. I guess they determined the threat/risk assessment to be low.

The contrail from the E-3 Sentry was ssen around 2:45pm but they flew into the sun so pix were impossible.

I couldn't see the AWACS but I could tell they were in the area since the satellite feed to my flow cable tv was messing up bad :D

When is AF1 scheduled to depart? I should be in work sunday evening... so hopefully I'll get to see it?

Aye norstar2k... was it a contrail or chemtrail? cause it stayed there for quite a long period of time

That information is still classified. Only after the flight plan for 'SAM 28000' is filed, then an ETD should be available.

Remember it's not Air Force One when the Prez in NOT on-board. It's typical designator is SAM 28000, pronounced "Sam Two Eight Thousand". SAM is Special Air Mission.

Ironically, the media referred to the BBJ that brought Hilary Clinton as 'Air Force Two', but that would have meant the US Vice President was on-board. He was not, as well as the aircraft with the designator AF2 is a B757 not a B737 (BBJ).

I videotaped them overhead, can't really see anything but you can hear them. Something about the sound of the engines drove the dogs crazy and I am currently nursing a mild headache.

I was hearing them overhead in Marabella and thought it was Petrotrin
9sometimes they vent something and it makes a similar sound)
but then I drove down Chaguanas and heard it too - it was overcast so you coudlnt see anything

by 7:30pm they were still circling and all you could see was a lil red light from the aircraft. They were moving too fast to be anything else but a jet.

Was it one or more than one?

VOR, was probably the most significant aviation invention other than the jet engine. With it, a pilot can simply, accurately, and without ambiguity navigate from Point A to Point B.

The widespread introduction of VORs began in the early 1950s and 50 years later it remains the primary navigation system in the overwhelming majority of aircraft. A worldwide land-based network of "air highways", known in the US as Victor Airways (below 18,000 feet) and "jet routes" (at and above 18,000 feet), was set up linking VORs. An aircraft could follow a specific path from station to station by tuning the successive stations on the VOR receiver, and then either following the desired course on a Radio Magnetic Indicator, or setting it on a conventional VOR indicator (shown below) or a Horizontal Situation Indicator (HSI, a more sophisticated version of the VOR indicator) and keeping a course pointer centered on the display.

The GPS, Global Positioning System, is making inroads onto the navigation scene and offers a flexibility unavailable with either NDB or VOR systems. However, it is supplementing these systems, not replacing them.

This one's out of an F-18, but gives you an idea of the capabilities of the F-15s and then some:

Well its 1300Hrs now and AF1 has not moved... but there is some ground vehicular activity in the vicinity.

I must say though, I am AMAZED that the emabrassment of AF1 having to go-around due to a car on the runway didn't make news.

I mean c'mon.... that is INCREDIBLY unprofessional.
The AF1 pilot himself called ATC and said there was a car on the runway and that he was going around. WOW.
