Since she write off her father corrola a long time ago, she frighten to drive. As soon as I get a lil diesel single cab pickup for myself, she will have to drive the Tiida somehow or the other.

We really do need equality! The spoilt brats are the ones that's making a mess of things. Hell yes i'll stop for you (to pass) but at least return d favour once in a while!

Similarly... learn to manage your own life. Men do the career thing too. And we have learnt how to cook, clean and raise a kid.

Equality means exaclty that. No one is too good or pretty to check their own oil, water and tyre presure. Fill ur own gas, change yuh flat, wash yuh car. Call 800-STAR when yuh breakdown THEN call me! :-)

I don't expect her to grab tools and be cleaning the K&N and changing the oil etc, but I do expect her to have a fundamental understanding of how a vehicle works, how the various systems function, and some basic principles re troubleshooting....

she should know how to change a flat.
she should know to at least check the water and oil levels, how worn are the brake pads, tires, know when the alignment is off, notice shudder/shimmy and weird noises when driving, precautionary things like that.

i don't expect her to be able to change oil and filters...change light bulb...tighten tappet pan cover...replace belts...

a feuner friend of mine was relating a story where she saw four young guys trying to change a flat
They jacked up the car and were then trying to figure out how to slacken the nuts, because the wheel kept spinning
She had to explain to them that they needed to lower the car back on the ground and slacken the nuts BEFORE jacking the car...
So............er..................Triniangie..........um.................what about those guys?
You have to wonder what they think.

I have a male coworker who's been driving his car with a horribly loud, screeching alternator belt. I asked him why he doesn't check to see if it needs tightening / replacing. I took a look and pointed out how horribly frayed it was...........he looked at me with a serious face and asked me if that's a bad or a good thing............shortly thereafter the long piece of electrical tape holding the radiator fan wiring got entangled in the fan, snapping the wires. He asked me how come the fans stopped but the car was still idling.........

go figure...........

Some guys genuinly think more of book sence than that of common senceif you understand what I mean..

Weird story-I have a worker who is entrusted with a crushing plant worth well into the 7 figure range and he has never once been away when we suffer breakdowns, hes one of the first to pull out the 17 socket and 3/4 drive but he cannot change an air filter in his car(b13)..

Why? Hes never had to quite simply, always had someone else do his automotive work and never learnt the DIY stuff on his own.. Sometimes I question his qualification 1losswuk

Most of the sedans I drive come with full manuals...when I was 17 I changed my first flat...just went to the index, flipped to the page and followed the instructions!! :)

The manual has helped me with lots of other car problems...if it can't I just call my daddy, my boyfriend or one of my brothers...isn't that one of the benefits of having them around?
