Seems more like marketing than a genuine effort
Years ago they did a 5 year old dark, which was remarkably smooth...this new thing they touting was very disappointing to me
If I can't sip it neat, it ain't up to standard
As an alternative to scotch, nah
^^ That was the genesis of Single Barrel rum....it was sold in a bottle similar to Royal Oak and got the facelift with all the other rums except 1919 & 1824

cinco wrote:personally i enjoy the glenlivet nadura for a single malt
the glenlivet 12 is alot easier than the 15 also
glenfiddich 12 is pretty good also
this is all if you prefer a single malt flavour and body as opposed to blended scotch
i really cant say there is any blended scotch i really enjoy

THE world drank the equivalent of 6.1 litres of pure alcohol per person in 2005, according to a report from the World Health Organisation published on February 11th. The biggest boozers are mostly found in Europe and in the former Soviet states. Moldovans are the most bibulous, getting through 18.2 litres each, nearly 2 litres more than the Czechs in second place. Over 10 litres of a Moldovan's annual intake is reckoned to be 'unrecorded' home-brewed liquor, making it particularly harmful to health. Such moonshine accounts for almost 30% of the world's drinking. The WHO estimates that alcohol results in 2.5m deaths a year, more than AIDS or tuberculosis. In Russia and its former satellite states one in five male deaths is caused by drink.

No sir, but in doing some more reading and drinking, I've realised I'm really more of a Bourbon person .... see:
Spirit Showdown: Scotch vs Bourbon
http://coedmagazine.com/2009/06/18/coed ... s-bourbon/
From the link:
Choosing between the two: Don’t, you can drink both! If you are new to whiskeys in general, start with what you like: If you prefer cookies over beef jerky as a snack, I’d go with Bourbon first. If it’s the other way around, aim towards Scotch whisky. Single malt Scotches will often be bold and intense. Blended Scotches (various single malt Scotches, mixed with a lighter grain alcohol), like Johnnie Walker and Dewar’s, will be easier to drink than single malts, since that’s why blended whiskeys were invented in the first place.

And right after that I went hunting and found some 1960's red and black label bottles from when my folks used to entertain ... way back when. The black label bottles are unopened, but the red had been sampled before. I took a whiff, and it's definitely a LOT less harsh to the nose than a current bottle of black. Will sample some night this week I think.
