Nothing in Trinidad depreciates cause ah man always wants something more than you. sorry to hear das ur monthly installment, but seems like you supported the same thing that you were making your point against. willing to pay 10k a month so yuh cud have pool and 4 rooms. dont get me wrong, kudos for having some ambition and going for what you wanted and getting it. However that is exactly the point.
I have the apple you want and because i know you want it i will call $20 because i know you want it, and you will pay it, again because you want it.

Trinidad is just filled with good businessmen. cant get away from that. Thats why Im an accountant...businessmen make me money lol.

Lol somewhat true but family is money LOL Bess I come out of IT and go into accounting

lol. Family is the only thing you never stop paying for.

and you stay in yuh IT and leave my accounting money alone lol

Everyone doesn't make in excess of $20,000 per month.
How do you expect this majority of the young population to get housing unless they get inherited land or build a shack in the bush?
HDC is their only option.

Hey not saying its not tough but........don't sit around waiting on HDC bro you can save and sacrifice on your own. By starting off small, being frugal and industrious you can still secure homeownership.

Buy a good used car,
Don't fete out your money
Don't smoke
Minimize the drinking
Avoid taking out consumer loans
Avoid blowing money on electronics / over shopping online
Avoid playing carnival every year
Avoid chasing women / men who milk your funds
Get married .... settle down.....
Carry your own lunch to work ...Stop eating out....
Avoid spending excessively on cell phones and phone calls ....
Avoiding spending money on a new outfit to go to party every weekend....
Buy in the market instead of the supermarket......
Avoid spending thousands on rims and car accessories....

Buy land .... save again and build bit by bit .... slowly but surely.....

This list can go on an on...... don't reserve yourself to victim status..... yea its tough out there but not its impossible.

So you'd prefer that he bought a car and never had a house?

that is the life of indian people all over the world ... Indian people work to build a better life for their family and give their kids a great start in life... All the others can't wait until their kids are 18 to leave the house... Offcourse with everything has its pros and cons

On another note, real estate is expensive in Trinidad for the simple reason of supply and demand :

1) If you don't pay $3 mil for my 1 lot of land in Gulf View, it really doesn't affect me becuz somebody will be happy to get it for that price...
2) Why must I sell my 2 bedroom house for $100 K and everyone else calling $1 Mil for theirs

All that is well and good but..
What does that have to do with you posting your house payment, you having a pool and four bedrooms
on an online forum?

The "average" mortgage is 8000tt per mth.
Plz explain....
If u have an educated answer. Plz take into consideration the average house that is purchased or land and construction. The age of the person taking d mortgage and financing.

Hoss I agree I always tell people this

pros
1) Kids don't have to worry about anything other than education and sports
2) Kids pass exams and get a good job
3) Kids learn good family values and traits

cons (Mainly result of poor parenting in general)
1) Kids are spoilt
2) Kids are overly dependant on parents
3) Kids are lazy , rather play vidoe games than actual sports
4) Parents spend alot of time making money and not enjoying their own life ...travelling, taking kids hiking, camping etc
5) Indians are generally less risk takers , they prefer be stable rather than take a chance in fear of loosing it all ... Not a bad way to live but you limit yourself and your kids by this mentality
6) Kids will not see the urgency of getting their own house at a later stage in life. why get theirs when they can live in yours forever... Rather spend the money on a wingroad with 22" chromes and 20 X 12" sub woofers..

And after all that suffering and stress to make sure their kids have a place to live when they pass on, from the time they go and put the house and land on their kids' name they kick them out of the same house they built themselves.

U might say that becuz you don't have a 30 year old leach with a gf living in your house whom you need to support and there is a vigo with 22's parked in your garage which does not belong to you... Or which by the way would of made a great downpayment on a guess what ? A HOUSE for the said leach and his wife

There is no such thing as "average mortgage payments" since,
Land Value and House Value varies based on area,
Period of mortgage depends on person's Age and Job Status,
Size mortgage payments can also be affected by Initial Downpayment and Debt/Asset Ratio.
