For all those who didn't get their callerID problem fixed, you can try the link below.

http://www.iclarified.com/entry/index.php?enid=1953

Worked for me, didn't need to do anything, just install and restart springboard.

Hope it helps.

Mark Gurman from 9to5Mac has posted a great write-up on what his usually very good sources have told him we can expect in the upcoming iPhone 4S/iPhone 5 hardware and software. In short:
    Apple A5 dual-core SoC (like iPad 2)
    1GB of RAM
    8MP rear camera, backlit sensor
    Qualcomm Gobi Baseband
Siri-based Assistant that replaces the old, limited Voice Control, and tied into Wolfram Alpha and Find my Friend
    Nuance-based Dictation for voice-to-text

------

Apple is expected by one Wall Street analyst to announce a completely redesigned "iPhone 5," with a new unibody aluminum design, as well as a low-end "iPhone 4S," geared toward the midrange smartphone market, in the coming weeks.

The two anticipated new iPhone models are expected by analyst Chris Whitmore with Deutsche Bank to push Apple's smartphone sales even higher. He sees the so-called "iPhone 4S" as a handset with a bill-of-material cost lower than $150, allowing Apple to sell it for between $300 and $350 without a carrier subsidy.

Whitmore sees a low-cost iPhone giving Apple even greater market penetration into the midrange smartphone market, where he estimates there are about 1 billion prepaid customers. Such a move would "drastically expand" the addressable smartphone market for Apple, he believes.

The anticipated iPhone 4S is viewed as essentially an 8GB iPod touch with an added cellular antenna. That's a device. Whitmore believes could achieve margins of around 50 percent, if such a device were to be sold for more than $300. He noted the current 8GB iPod touch, which sells for $229, has margins of about 38 percent.

In his note to investors on Monday, Whitmore also made brief mention of Apple's fifth-generation iPhone, which he expects will be a completely redesigned handset. Specifically, he said he expects the device to have an aluminum unibody construction to replace the current glass back of the iPhone 4.

In addition, Whitmore also believes that the so-called "iPhone 5" will sport a better camera and a slightly larger screen size. Various rumors have suggested the next handset will have an 8-megapixel camera along with an edge-to-edge screen.

Claims that Apple's next iPhone will sport an aluminum back first surfaced in March, when it was said that ditching glass could allow the handset to be even lighter. It was claimed again in August that Apple's iPhone 5 will sport a "metal chassis" replacing the reinforced glass on the back of the iPhone 4.

Image

Leading up to an anticipated iPhone announcement from Apple, a number of alleged parts have leaked from the company's overseas supply chain showing a handset largely similar to the iPhone 4. Some reports have claimed that these are for Apple's new low-cost iPhone 4S, while others have said the iPhone 5 will look largely the same as the current model.

Though no components showing a drastically redesigned iPhone 5 have appeared, a number of third-party cases have shown a redesigned iPhone with curved sides leading to a flat back. In addition, The New York Times has claimed that the iPhone 5 will sport a "fairly different" look on the outside.

how dumb that people answered "better data plan" when asked "what feature would you like to see in the iPhone 5?"

So I need a bit of help here :(

I have an iphone 3g, running 06.15 baseband. Had it on 4.2.1 but I find it was moving too slow. So I was reading that it was possible to downgrade to 3.1.3 because that firmware doesn't require the SHSH blobs or something so. So I did that, but for some reason Cydia keep giving some errors when it launches and no packages (bigboss) etc showing up. And it sticking on "loading" when I put it to update. Which means I can't unlock my phone with ultrasn0w.

Did the downgrade with sn0breeze IREB and redsn0w etc. Same problem with both. Was wondering if the Cydia that those use was outdated or something. Cause I just put back 4.2.1 and it working fine.

Searched on every single forum, did some sheit some people said, nothing worked. Any ideas? :(

As noted by MacRumors, Apple has been denied the tradmark for multi-touch, which they applied for on January 9, 2007 after the first iPhone was introduced. Once the decision was reached by the the Board, Apple then filed for an appeal which was then again shot-down. Excerpt from the decision that is embedded after the break:

Again, simply because the applied-for term has been used in association with a highly successful product does not mean the term has acquired distinctiveness. Decision: The examining attorney’s finding that the Section 2(f) showing is insufficient is affirmed.

Apple was denied the trademark simply because it is too broad, and lacks distinctiveness to Apple alone.

Did the updrade to 4.3.5 and updated the bb before the release of iOS 5 since we won't know what to expect.

Battery life on 4.3.3 sucked ballz. Using wifi I literally watched the battery drain.

Up and running on 4.2.1 again and waiting on iOS 5. BTW, still using a REGULAR gevey with the 04.10.01 bb with no problems

iPhone 5 Release Date Could Be October 14

Image

A new report says that Apple is blacking out selected vacation days during the second week of October, strongly indicating that iOS 5, iCloud, and iPhone 5 are expected to be released that week. Specifically, AppleInsider learned that Apple “has in some locations blacked out vacation time for employees from October 9th through 12th and October 14th through 15th“.

More Evidence for an iPhone 5 Release on October 14 or 15
The October 15th date is particularly relevant because several weeks ago, French Telecom CEO Stephane Richard stated that the iPhone 5 would be “out October 15th”. Due to timezone differences, if the EU and US had corresponding release schedules, October 14 could also be the release date in the USA, which may explain why those dates are blacked out from the employees vacation calendar.

Building Evidence for an iOS 5 Release on October 10
Breaking down the blacked out dates of October 9th to 12th, AppleInsider cites three additional pieces of evidence that strongly suggest iOS 5 and iCloud will be made available on those dates:

AppleCare is expecting an increase in iOS related call volume on Monday, October 10th
Apple’s past release history shows an iOS update released several days prior to a new hardware launch
A corresponding Twitter developer event with specific focus on iOS 5 is scheduled between Oct 10 and Oct 12

Similarly, a tipster with a fairly accurate track record, including the specific OS X Lion release date, suggested to OSXDaily via Twitter that Monday October 10th would be a date that some new Apple product or software will become publicly available. Separately, OSXDaily has learned that Apple has been ramping up hiring in their Austin, Texas call center over the past month to prepare for an increase in iCloud and iOS related inquiries.

Apple has only said that iOS 5 would be released in the “Fall” of this year. While all of these specific dates remain officially unconfirmed and speculative, it’s widely accepted that the iPhone 5 will be announced on October 4th at an event led by CEO Tim Cook on Apple’s home campus, One Infinite Loop.

Breaking News

Image

The Loop reports that Apple has finally confirmed the long-awaited media event due October 4. It will take place at Apple’s Cupertino campus in California at 10am PT. If an email invitation is an indication, this will be the iPhone-focused presser.

Reports continue to surface that Apple will discontinue the iPod classic after an impressive 10-year run, while the iPod shuffle is also expected to get the ax as the company moves toward a multi-touch lineup for its iconic portable media players.

Image

TUAW cited a source on Tuesday as saying that Apple will discontinue the iPod shuffle and iPod classic this year. According to the report, the company is looking to retire the platter-based hard drive used in the iPod classic as it has come to favor flash-based solutions, while the iPod shuffle's lack of a screen "has been an issue" since it was released.

The publication noted that it had been "sitting on [the] tip for a while" and decided to publish the report in light of speculation from CNet that Apple may "stick a fork in the iPod" at its iPhone event next week. The report's author, Victor Agreda, Jr., declined to specify the nature of his source, though he did note that the person is "NOT an analyst."

Image

Last week, Wedge Partners analyst Brian Blair also predicted that Apple would discontinue the iPod classic. He also expects a modest update to the iPod touch, which may include an improved camera, a white model, and 3G data capability. AppleInsider was first to report this summer that Apple would release a white iPod touch model with few changes.

In fact, rumors of the demise of the iPod classic and shuffle have persisted for some time. Last year, speculation arose that Apple would discontinue the iPod classic, but the device went unmentioned, and, consequently, unchanged, at last year's iPod event. Though some had also suggested that the smaller multi-touch iPod nano would push out the iPod shuffle, AppleInsider reported last year that Apple intended to keep the shuffle around.

Though the iPod classic and iPod shuffle are still available from Apple and its resellers, the report warns that customers who want to buy either device should do so "sooner rather than later." Apple currently sells the 160GB iPod classic for $249 and the iPod shuffle for $49.

Also contributing to speculation that less popular iPod models will be discontinued this year is the fact that Apple has eclipsed its annual fall iPod event with this year's iPhone 5 release. Whether intentionally or due to unspecified delays, this year's iPhone release has been pushed back from its usual summer launch to coincide with the fall release schedule. Others have pointed to the fact that Apple's invitation for next week's event does not mention the iPod, instead making the iPhone the star of the show.

Ok, so I am running 4.3.3 now. Surprisingly, the battery life is just as good as 4.2.1 with this particular custom ipsw I created with Sn0wbreeze as compared to the previous file I used ... O_o

I know I stated earlier the 4.3.3 sucked but I can't understand how it's better now, and I am running the same applications that were on 4.2.1.

And just for info, the reason I went back to 4.3.3 is that there was an annoying issue with the 4.2.1 and the 04.10.01 BB. Every time a call was ended, there would be a 'Call Failed' popping up. It did not affect functionality but it was too damn annoying for me. I Googled it and there were many cases of the same problem which they claim is the newer BB on older firmwares.

^There are old ones (4.3.3 custom fw) floating around (mahmood's i think are old) without the hotfixes that were bundled into a redsn0w i think it was 0.9.6rc16. You had to jailbreak and then rerun redsn0w to apply the fixes.

Ohh and guess what... the iphone 4 proximity sensor is a FAIL. wow... major. I mean the phone app is close to fail (and it aint getter better in iOS 5 sadly so i eh want to start up on that) but wow... today was the worst. I can't remember what caused it to fail but i was on a call had to do some manipulation and returned to the phone call... i then noticed WTF... its on loud speaker... all i know i was in my Phonebook about to text someone... with my face.. :|

That's an annoying hardware fault with no fix but to return it to apple and get a new iPhone. I remember many people complaining at launch about this. The only reason it didn't receive more attention was because of the antennae issue.
