Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has the resources to go on the biggest buying spree in the club's history.
The Mail on Sunday says this summer their bank balance will reach an all-time peak of about £170m, and that money might bankroll the biggest summer spending spree United have ever had.
In some part, this is down to the biggest growth area in United's business activities; not selling tickets or the income from TV rights, but commercial deals with dozens of companies who pay top dollar to be associated with the club.
The names of the players linked to United read like a Who's Who of transfer targets from the game: from Wesley Sneijder, Alexis Sanchez and David de Gea to Ashley Young, Jack Rodwell, Charlie Adam and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain - about £130m of talent in total. And United manager Sir Alex Ferguson can afford to buy them.

United must evolve, rather than attempt to replace the irreplaceable.
Paul Scholes has decided it is time for him to hang up his boots and retire from playing football.
Paul was part of the new wave of talent that came through to United's first team during the mid-90's. He scored twice on his debut in the League Cup at Port Vale in the 1994/95 season and since then has enjoyed a long a successful career, making an incredible 676 appearances for the Reds.
Paul will take on a coaching role with United from the start of next season. Fans will also have the opportunity to see Paul play again at Old Trafford in his testimonial match in August.
Sir Alex Ferguson said: "What more can I say about Paul Scholes that I haven't said before. We are going to miss a truly unbelievable player. Paul has always been fully committed to this club and I am delighted he will be joining the coaching staff from next season. Paul has always been inspirational to players of all ages and we know that will continue in his new role."
Paul Scholes said: "I am not a man of many words but I can honestly say that playing football is all I have ever wanted to do and to have had such a long and successful career at Manchester United has been a real honour. This was not a decision that I have taken lightly but I feel now is the right time for me to stop playing. To have been part of the team that helped the club reach that 19th title is a great privilege.
"I would like to thank the fans for their tremendous support throughout my career, I would also like to thank all the coaches and players that I have worked with over the years, but most of all I would like to thank Sir Alex for being such a great manager, from the day I joined the club his door has always been open and I know this team will go on to win many more trophies under his leadership."
David Gill said: "It is very sad day for Manchester United fans around the world. We all know that Paul was one of the players that came through the ranks of the academy system in the 1990's and has established himself as one of the greatest players to ever wear the United shirt. It is very important that the club keeps its association with these great players and we are delighted that Paul will join the coaching staff."
ASTON VILLA have given the green light for Ashley Young's £16million move to Manchester United. Villa's American owner Randy Lerner is due to meet the winger today.
England ace Young, 25, has only a year left on his contract and wants Champions League football.
Lerner also expects to hold talks with former England boss Steve McClaren in the next 48 hours about the vacant manager's job.
Fans are not keen on the Wally with the Brolly taking over but Villa Park bigwigs are warming to McClaren, who is keen to get back into top-flight management.
If he gets the job, one of his first tasks will be to try and persuade his former Middlesbrough winger Stewart Downing to stay.
Downing, 26, is a Liverpool target and is stalling on a new Villa Park deal.
Contract rebel Samir Nasri has stunned Arsenal by refusing to rule out a sensational summer move to Barclays Premier League champions Manchester United.
The saga surrounding the France international's failure to pen a new deal with the Gunners has been rumbling for months and now Nasri has hinted he could swap the Emirates for Old Trafford after United star Patrice Evra said his compatriot should join him.
Nasri, 23, is out of contract next summer and Gunners boss Arsene Wenger will be keen to cash in before he left on a free transfer, but the midfielder wants to know if United's interest has any credibility. He told French broadcasters TF1’s Telefoot: 'Do I want to go to Man United? Initially, we should see if it's real and if it is concrete.'
Gael Clichy is another on the Gunners' books who could be heading for the exit this summer, but Nasri has said nothing will be decided until after France’s forthcoming fixtures against Ukraine and Poland.
He said: 'I don’t know if I will sign a new contract. Anyway, the discussions are ongoing. For the moment, I don't think about this. We will speak about it after the match with Poland.
