Govt needs to open up for ppl who at least 2 weeks after getting their vaccine, to return to TT and quarantine at home. So they can chose and get Yankee vaccine abroad if they want.

Surprised to see you saying that....

That would require them to go away for a month.

would have to quarantine for 2 weeks on arrival. then 4 weeks between doses. then 2 weeks after 2nd dose to take effect. that's 8 weeks. then home quarantine 2 weeks here just in case of variants.

so u hadda have money for d trip plus 10 weeks to spare

Give ppl options. Firstly the US won't accept you in from TT without a negative PCR test then you will have to quarentine for 10 days on arrival. Then take a J&J vaccine. Chill for 2wks. Then return home to quarantine for 1wk.

If you have the money and time to do that, why not.

Money isn't too much the issue here, it's getting a relative to let u stay for a month.

Otherwise yes it's money cuz a cheap Airbnb + Uber + Food = $2000 USD minimum

Nope. It is a side effect. One of my neighbours took the Sinopharm last week Friday and she was telling me today that the only side effect she got was this "tickling in her throat".

I believe that is fake news, however it can possibly happen.

The reason is that while Sinopharm is effective at protecting the user, persons can still transmit quite easily when compared to Pfizer, Moderna, AstraZeneca, and J&J.

I do think this is a form of vaccine discrimination and will be quite controversial if passed, especially as Sinopharm is WHO approved.

However, WHO approval doesn't take away from the fact that:

1. Sinopharm has very little evidence that it protects people over 60
2. Sinopharm might not have lasting immunity, possibly only 6 months
3. Sinopharm's real-world efficacy seems to be 50% (based on Seychelles0
4. The Chinese remarkably have admitted themselves that the vaccines aren't that effective and need improvement - https://www.washingtonpost.com/world/as ... story.html
5. UAE and others are exploring giving a 3rd dose of Sinopharm.

If you want an analogy for vaccine effectiveness, let's use cellphone technology.

Sinopharm is 2G
Astrazeneca/J&J - 3G
Pfizer and Moderna - 4G

Look at Seychelles. Imagine we could vaccinate 70% of the population with Sinopharm and still end up in this situation (probably half the deaths though).

There are no vaccine restrictions but there are many testing requirements and country bans.

"Effective January 26, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) will require all air passengers two years of age and over entering the United States (including U.S. citizens and Legal Permanent Residents) to present a negative COVID-19 test, taken within three (3) calendar days of departure, or proof of recovery from the virus within the last 90 days. Airlines must confirm the negative test result or proof of recent recovery for all passengers prior to boarding. Airlines must deny boarding of passengers who do not provide documentation of a negative test or recovery."

The failures of the appointment system is real disappointing.
Systemic failures which are a part of life in T&T could easily make 'herd immunity' via vaccination a real steep hill to climb.
There may very well be an argument or justification here for private enterprise to be placed in the execution drivers seat.
Time is a luxury which our country just doesn't have.

the worst is they don't have to roll their own solution. Plenty off-the-shelf solutions available from big tech.

like this one from microsoft

what that mean? walkins? cuz appointments i would imagine is kinda already like that. if u called first u get the first slot. if 10000 ppl already called u getting the 10001th slot which may be weeks away?

i hope they dont mean all adults at this point - there are still too many high risk ppl fulling up the hospitals and dying so we need at least 70% of them vaccinated first, after that then u expand it

u can drastically bring down hospitalizations long before herd immunity with this approach

the covax arrangement was actually meant to do just this- end the acute phase first.
