Guys the chances of robbery from legit passengers (those using the app) are low to none because the passengers identity is needed to use the app in the first place.

Running Uber will be far safer than operating at traditional taxi.

The risk arises (but also applies to any taxi or PH service) when an Uber driver is waiting at random locations for their passengers.

what business that interacts with the public doesn't have risk? How many of you "what if" question askers plan to actually sign up for Uber?

True, but i have to provide the balance in a deficit because ppl here only stating the positive aspects of using uber for passengers and employees. The negative or risks have to be stated and assessed also.

agreed oh self appointed minion of misery  But the risks weigh heavily on the driver's side and aren't very much different to those that exist in the industry currently, the cashless aspect mitigates a lot of that as does the fact that the cars are GPS monitored and both drivers and passengers are on a database. Most of the what-ifs aren't new to those in the industry and can be managed, drivers interested in joining Uber can easily attending of the meetings that started yesterday and get their questions answered. Hence the second part of my question, the discussion here seems speculatory and more akin to window shoppers

I've been operating a transport service www.taxi-tt.com for about 2 years, i'm pleased to say that my clients are satisfied with the service in so much so, i see this as the next step to helping TnT have a better transport system overall, that is just my opinion, i know others may differ, the landscape of the world is changing business is now at the speed of though, and i have a passion to be part of that.

I also want 2advanced to signup with Uber and become my padawan

Don't be offended by the various questions, our society is broken and these are obvious questions to ask
Don't think you have all the solutions either, would be foolish to think so....
Sure uber works in other countries but this is Trinidad lol

Any idea what is the typical fare and how it is determined, eg. Central to airport run?

^Exactly I don't know who he trying to fool lol

Any driver who "refers a friend" to drive with Uber will get $600.00 after their friend completes 30 trips.

All the info on how to join is listed here on their Trinidad site: http://www.ubertrini.com/

In order to become a Partner you need the following requirements:

    - Be 18+ years old
    - Have a driver's licence
    - Your vehicle should be at least model 2005

Upload the required documents. They will be reviewed and approved in less than 24 hours.

     - Driver's licence
    - Vehicle insurance:
    - Vehicle Picture with License Plate (exterior)
    - Vehicle registration
    - Certificate of Character

**Please note only insurances from the following companies will be accepted:
Guardian General
COLFIRE
TATIL
Maritime
Sagicor

After that, you will receive a Certification test.

You can also book an onbaording session here at the Radisson next week: http://t.uber.com/onboardingtrinidad

Once you finish your registration a background check will be done. After a week you will receive your results and after being approved you will start driving!

Also, they may introduce cash as a payment option here in Trinidad due to the low amount Credit Card holders.

^ it sure does.

Also, Uber will have an insurance coverage for passengers only. They're still working on the figure and provider.

Drivers are responsible their own coverage for their car and themselves.

Drivers will also be paid out weekly (by every Thursday) via direct deposits to their local bank.

Vehicles must also have 4 doors, Seatbelts for all passengers and driver, AC, no heavy tint and also a working radio.

In case of an accident, what happens? Most companies have a clause which states the vehicle is not to be used for hire or reward. I have seen where companies found out that the car was being rented out ,and they refused to pay claims.

Well I guess the insurance companies will have to make a statement about it.

Passenger pays Uber who pays the driver later. For the trip the driver is just giving the passenger a drop.
