I stuck it through with my i7 but dwelled in the android space for months with pixels, huaweis and a op6... I already have my money put aside for the pixel 3 or op6+ this year.

Leaning towards the pixel because it's the only i seeing with a 2year solid life

2 years solid life in what regard? I can't see any flagship phones not surpassing the 2 year mark in durability and features. The only issue I can see is 5G interoperability if you travel much.

Incidentally, Pixel 3 will likely be a Foxconn build.

I made sure the phone I bought earlier this year had a removable battery. Lots of other phones that I saw in the store don't, which means in 2 years if the battery life dramatically decreases you will be forced to replace an otherwise perfectly good phone. I wanted a cheap phone with that plus at Ieast 16gb storage but a microsd card slot I can use to add on storage so I got the Galaxy J2 Pro for $1500.

Actually, this is not quite the case. A typical LiPoly battery lasts 2 to 3 years or 300 to 500 charge cycles. Most premature failure is from leaving the battery on the charger or exposing the battery to high heat (especially while charging).

Longer life can be achieved by protecting the battery from high heat; charging to no more than 80% and discharging to no less than 20%.

Pocophone F1 doesn't support Band 2. Xiaomi Mi 8 does. Both are by the same company.

Lte 4g 5g all kinda g is rubbish here anyways. Who uses data when wifi is everywhere? Oh right, ppl with no life and live in a bubble. That being said, cost vs performance...pocophone is unbeatable.

Now look at the specs on the poco phone. Its impressive but the plastic body is a turn off for me. Really like the titanium body on the essential phone. Pity they don't have another run. Getting fed up of the s8, wanna try something new.

No official photos but this might be interesting:

Samsung’s Foldable Smartphone Code-named “Winner”

We’ve heard about Samsung’s plans for a foldable smartphone for quite a while now. Back in September of last year, we heard that the device would launch this year with Samsung Galaxy Note branding. Then in January, we learned that Samsung would begin production of this device in November. We’ve learned that the device could cost around $2,000 at launch. The Wall Street Journalreported that the smartphone would be code-named “Winner” and would launch early next year, though Samsung has since confirmed that the device will launch this year. Given that there are only 2 months left in 2018, we should expect to see leaks of this device as we approach the launch date.

While we can’t confirm any specifications for the device, we have spotted the device is the latest leaked Android Pie build for the Galaxy S9. The screenshot below is from a decompilation of the framework-res file. We found the 4 Samsung Galaxy S10 models in the same location where “Winner” now appears.

Well I take very care of my phones and anything I own. I keep all original boxes and every piece of paper that comes with it. So the only reason I really change a phone is when I out grow it.

But basically I keep a phone 2-3 years max.

But give me a flagship phone and I'll probably keep it longer.

Currently waiting on my Motorola G6 to come in.

Currently have a Umidigi Plus E

the difference in Bands does make a difference.
on a trip in the US with US sim cards LTE... i had an S8 and wifey an Honor 10

i experienced speeds of avg 20 mb and wifey 2-6 mbs with the same SIMS from the Same Provider.
this was between MIA, Nevada and LA.

comparing the Bands used in trinidad and USA which is mainly Band 2 - not in the Chinese Phone market.

However the Poco phone is extremely attractive with flagship specs and decent price.
Even though the Kevlar back is plastic looking, i normally use a case.

Xiaomi Pocophone F1 was supposedly a high specs mid-range phone for the Indian market. Xiaomi Mi 8 is their flagship phone and does have Band 2. It also has a better build, AMOLED screen and bigger price tag.

Huawei Mate and P series dual sim global versions have band 2

The honor 7x does band 2 as well (can confirm this one on bmo/Digi myself)

Huawei/Honor does support Band 2(1900) but only if you're paying more.

To my knowledge, Band 2(1900) is only used in North America and about 10 other countries in the Americas.

Many Huawei/Honor models like the Mate, P, Y, etc., have Band 2 support available but not on all variations.

I have also seen many, many gray-market phones available in Trinidad that were Asian market specific and "probably" don't fully function in Trinidad. More than a few sellers swore that the phones worked on Trinidad LTE. If the Latin American variant had been imported instead a user might be able to get what they're looking for.

The cell phone market in China, India and other parts of Asia is brutal. Many of those phones are actually made in those countries. Those markets see better phones selling for less as a consequence and then those phones find their way to the Caribbean.

ultimately becareful with the variations. the Huawei - Honor 10 for eg. not Band 2 for Lte. However still get reasonable high speed at 5mb. enough for daily use till a WiFi zone at work and home.

So a Latin American version of a phone will definitely get better LTE speed than a us version that has the required bands?

Post what your interested in and then we can look it up.

Support for Band (1900) 4GLTE will give you the best speed available from a Band 2(1900) 4GLTE provider.

If you don't have LTE support, you will likely fall back to Band 2(1900) UMTS like mitch1980 said earlier.

It's slower but not by much. It's called 4G in Trinidad but called 3.5G most other places.
