The conclusion is contrary to expert medical opinion:Dohplaydat wrote:Bahrain is starting to give recipients of the Sinopharm a Pfizer booster.
Apparently, 30% over persons over 65 who get Sinopharm have zero immunity to covid.
https://www.wsj.com/articles/bahrain-fa ... 1622648737Bahrain, Facing a Covid Surge, Starts Giving Pfizer Boosters to Recipients of Chinese Vaccine
Residents who are over 50, are obese or have chronic illnesses are urged to get a Pfizer-BioNTech shot six months after their full Sinopharm vaccination
Published clinical data on Sinopharm’s efficiency among the population groups most vulnerable to severe disease is scant. The vaccine’s main clinical trial involved 40,382 participants in the Middle East, most of them in the United Arab Emirates.
The study’s peer-reviewed results, published on May 26 by the Journal of the American Medical Association, found 78% efficacy against symptomatic disease for one of two versions of the Sinopharm vaccine. However, the cohort was made up mostly of healthy young men—the participants’ mean age was 36—and the study reported only two cases of severe disease, a statistically insufficient amount, in the placebo group.
In a separate, unpublished, real-world study of Sinopharm in Serbia, 29% of 150 participants were found to have zero antibodies against the virus three months after they received the first of two shots of the vaccine. The average age of the people who participated in the Serbian study was higher than 65.
“The Sinopharm vaccine is not immunogenic enough, and it appears that its impact is especially low on elderly recipients,” said Olgica Djurkovic-Djakovic, the doctor who headed the study at the University of Belgrade and shared the findings with The Wall Street Journal. Ten people out of the 150 who received Sinopharm and participated in the study contracted Covid-19, she said.
Based on this we should NOT be giving Sinopharm to over 60s, we should give AZ to over 60s and give the Sinopharm to persons under 60.
Pretty much the opposite of what we're doing right now.
It's no secret, it's simply even more rare of a side effect. The physicians likely are unable to keep up with the issues.wing wrote:Why aren't they being reported? Are they known only to you? All is well with both parents. Yesterday they felt it though
Moms: fever, body pains, tiredness
Dad: fever
Both slept majority of the day with lots of coconut water, water and club soda in between. They felt very thirsty throughout.

And that the second shot is worse than the first so load up the panadol
So this government putting carnival first. A rush to vaccine so carnival can back to the bobol.Duane 3NE 2NR wrote:AG: Vaccines coming, so look out for mother of all Carnivals

Not everyone has the same intrinsic motivation - that promise of carnival may encourage a good subset of the population to take it

Still debasing to people if your opinion of them, and thus the message isn't vaccination will reduce deaths , restart the economy, get people back to employment and improve our lives immensely, but "yuh go get to wine down for ah two days nex year"
Seventy-five percent of these vaccines, which will be a combination of Pfizer, Moderna, and Johnson & Johnson, will go to COVAX to be delivered equitably.
The United States will make the final selection of where the vaccines will go but six million doses will go to Latin America and the Caribbean.

The thing is, not everyone thinks the same.
The incentivization for vaccine takers is a trend around the world.
KFC in some places, Donuts in others, Beer and game tickets
Just see here for example:
https://www.vaccines.gov/incentives.html
The promise of carnival is a huge incentive for a lot Trinbagonians. Not necessarily me, but different approaches to this problem maximises chances of success.

80 million doses to be gifted,
75% goes to COVAX and which we probably won't see.
The remaining 25% is distributed in LATAM, Caribbean, India and Africa.
CARPHA will decide who gets what in the Caribbean. They were told to prioritize areas with surging cases and low vaccination rates (and we probably a priority on that list).
The call from Kamala Harris to Keith Rowley was in his role as Chairman of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM), according to the VP's official press release. So this still very much a regional gift and not a bilateral gift.
but yes we should all be celebrating now
