Old Age pensioners get reduced thousands affected

Old Age pensioners got a surprise today when collecting their cheques. People normally accostomed to getting $1550.00 per month only recieved $800.00 this month. New government policy to reduce spending.

I think that's only applies to ppl getting NIS payments.

That affects a lot of people, and it is exactly what people predicted would come from Government as part of their 'reduced spending' but Continued Construction agenda.

I hope this is not true..but with less revenue being generated from falling oil prices,the Govt will need to find ways to cut spending.
Individuals who experience this reduction are most likely receiving NIS payments.
Tighten All Yuh Belt ppl :cry:

yes sit is very true, someone i know very well only got 800 pension this month, he also gets NIS payments. And its always the poor man and poor old man too apparently who has to foot the bill for government cost cutting.

My Dad had his pension cut too, he also gets NIS....it is so unfair on the old people.

But we LIKE IT SO!!!!!

someone elso i know who gets NIS widows benefit of only 400, still got her pension cut from 1550 to 800. I am at a a loss for words.

This Is truth, granny now open hers & she call me 2 read it over to see if they made a mistake & yes she gets NIS. All these senior citizens who worked their socks off in the past to bring the country to where it is today & this is what they do to them? Y manning doh thighten his belt until he choke & dead.

Well from what I understand, if the person receives NIS payments of $1,000 or more, then the person will get a reduced sum in their Senior Citizens Grant.

Those who receive less than $1,000 from NIS should not be affected.

But yet Manning say CEPEP and URP jobs will stay and in fact they will create more jobs there.

Manning did say that there will be minimal cuts in the PNM's "social" programs. Guess we will be passing the 600 murder mark in 2009 :lol:

I don't see any goverment ministers taking any pay cuts, in fact the salary review commission increased their salaries several times over the last couple of years, even though they pratically live off the state (i.e. we hard working tax payers) not to mention the number of allowances they have for housing etc :(

Actually it is not only people receiving N.I.S Payments getting affected but anyone earning more than $1000.00 per year.

i heard old people want to protest

and calls to the ministries etc have gone unanswered and noone seems to be able to expalin to them what happen


there are those who do not recieve nis also got cut to 800
