TSTT Blink--->Help?!

Postby turbonator » January 24th, 2009, 8:49 pm

Hey tuners I'm not sure if anyone out there can help me, but any help will be appreciated. A blink technician dropped off my wireless blink modem earlier this evening, but its not working. Everything is plugged in correctly but the 'Alarm' light is not coming off and the light for the 'xDSL link' isn't coming on. The technician said that the modem is not synchronizing with TSTT's servers or what ever. As far as I understand if the 'Alarm' light stays on that basically translates into a problem with the connection. The thing is the land line is working like normal ie. phone works like normal.

Strangely enoufgh I connected it to my neighbour's phone line (and they do not have a Blink connection) and the 'Alarm' light came off and the 'xDSL' light was on :? So it working by them but not by me and I'm the one that signed up for blink :?

What else can I try?

I did that but they were no help at all. They just said that they would put in a report and will have to wait at least 5 working days for a technician to call/visit me :|

other option is to take the modem back to tstt and tell them your probs and insist that you get another one

i was at tstt on friday when a guy came in with the same prob....the woman promptly exchanged it for him

that should get done in less than 5 working days

Are you 100% sure u hooked it up correctly?

Try hookin it up on another phone line in your house to see if u get status light..

double check your filters.

Ok, thanks for the help. Although I doubt that the modem is the problem because when I tried it on my neighbour's phone line it was working as its supposed to

Are you sure you connected the line filter with the PC jack and not the phone jack? Also call back the tollfree 62BLINK or whatever it is and visit http://192.168.1.1/ and let them run through the settings and use that same page to save the settings and restart the modem.

It worked for me when I first connected mine it was not working too.

If ur replacing a blink modem with ur own router how do you get that system to work wrt settings? do you have to type dem in, or once u plug in d dsl line it all automatic?

turbonator, if the dsl or status light is off, that means that they didnt wire u in the exchange as yet for blink!

It cud also be a problem at his NID, or even old wiring in the house can cause problems with either status light flashing or never coming on.

eitech, most broadband routers allow u to just plug and play...do not replace the TSTT router... just plug the network cable (yellow cable) on the blink modem into the WAN port of the new router and then LAN Port 1 to your machine... it should be automatically setup within a minute or so

Wait, so when they was upgrading the area (changing the lines that coming to my house) they not supposed to do that?

Last year in June when they came to upgrade my line the technician said that I would be able to get blink after they were finished upgrading everyone in that area which should take about 4 weeks. I signed up in August and after 100 meeeelion calls they finally came on saturday.

I called again today and explained to the CSR how I tried it by my neighbour's house (and they don't have interent) and the modem was working like normal. He said that its a problem with the connection so I'll have to wait 3-5 working days for it to be fixed.

Well to update my status the technician just called (once again note time of post) and say that he won't be able to make it today because he was busy. Also he will not be working in my area tomorrow but he'll make a note so in the event that a technician is in my area they will fix the problem :?

Once again TSTT  is d firetruck best.

Customer Service is excellent as always
