you forget they made it seem like the man is a criminal,
they didnt even have him at the table and talking during the press conference
when they announced the takeover

the mere fact that duprey was at the table with the honchos and allowed to talk
implies everything is/was above board

I'd say Harry is worse. His institution TOOK people's money and disbursed to others without securing a means for recovery. Take for instance all the loans they wrote off on delinquent members and then granted them new loans within 24 hours. Harry also made long term investments with people's money and can not recover any time in the near future. This exposed the organization significantly, and he left no buffer to protect members. His irresponsible management gave no comfort to any hopes for a bailout.

Duprey took tons more money and invested it. At least, there are actual tangible signs of what he did with that money. Granted the exposure was great, his investment was not long term and fell victim to a global financial crash much sooner than anticipated. His investment was a means of buffering the organization against a potential crash, which still "caught him with his pants down".

Harry - potentially $1B. But, where is the money?

Duprey - potentially $10B. There's no money, but there are condos in Florida. At least pensioners have somewhere they could go to when they retire in lieu of a pension.

Afra Raymond of Raymond & Pierre, a well known valuator has been writing a column in the Guardian on Thursdays and has spent a of space on the CL issue last couple months.
I suggest you read it. Read the part about dividends being paid after going to govt to get bailout money.

I'm not disputing the contents of that article, but Musaib-Ali is dismissing the fact that Duprey built a huge empire in Florida to the tune of $10B. "We donâ€™t know where it has gone."

Duprey's Florida empire slumped when the real estate market crashed. Currently he can not and will not recognize a profit on his investment as values have fallen way below what were originally forecasted.

It is correct to say that the taxpayers are now paying for the bailout, as not even the government is prepared to transact these properties in exchange for paltry sums of cash. Despite whatever dividends were paid and whoever benefitted from these transactions, there is an undisputable fact that the organisation threw huge amounts of cash into these projects. And there's evidence to prove it.

Harry is still insisting that his organization's demise is because of people bad-mouthing the institution, and not bad management.
