Feeding the Dogs of Waterloo *Donations Wanted* Reg NPO

Postby Captainzaak » May 4th, 2009, 12:47 pm

Good Day Tuners,

We have started feeding the dogs at ‘The Temple by the Sea’ in Waterloo, Carapichaima. At the moment there are about 20-30 dogs there, some with pups, some injured, some suffering from malnutrition etc.

We’re making an appeal to everyone we can, who can donate something to help us, we prefer food over money, however if u would like to give cash we will accept. We try to cook a pot of food at least twice a week and carry for them, consisting of chicken head and other unwanted parts which we get free from some poultry shops in the area, however they only give us once a week, or once every two weeks. These dogs are really starving out there, they eat anything, including the beaks of the chicken/duck head.

Therefore we are asking for donations of rice, frozen meats of any kind, dog chow or any type of food for them. Also we’re planning to bathe them soon, so if anyone has any mange cream or regent lying around that they will like to donate, thanks much.

At the moment we’re in the process of getting assistance from the TTSPCA, however they can only handle so many dogs at a time, hence our appeal to the public. I will be able to collect the food/cash at your convenience wherever you are located, and if you would like to, you are more than welcomed to come with us when we’re feeding them to see where your donations are going.

We have high respect for the Hindu faith, therefore no meat is thrown anywhere near the temple or cremation site, we feed them on the side road by the cemetery. I took some pictures from when we went out on Sunday to feed; it was pouring rain however Nick dared it all to feed his animals.

See pictures below from Sunday Feeding.

After Feeding some of them, pig bucket half finish

May look like holes in the ground, but this is actually where the mother of 5 pups keeps her children, its a den underground that she placed them, she also bites anyone/thing that comes even near her children, however shes very far from anyone on the site
Image

Feeding one of them who didn't get any
Image

Rain was falling so not may dogs were there, as u can see, only had about 10 dogs, normally its about 20-30, once bucket is never enough
Image

Sad Sight, someone tied a dog to the post and left him for dead * Gruesome pics*

Please don't let it happen to this one

Please people, ANY type of donations is accepted, as well, no stupid comments/keep them to yourselves, this is genuine and not any money make scheme, your are welcomed to join us when we're feeding.

Admins, please don't delete, we are only looking to help the animals that are dying out there. They are Gods creatures to, not only humans.

Thanks for your time and call me anytime if you have donations, 393-4567 or email at feedthewaterloodogs@gmail.com

**Update**

We are VERY please to announce that we are now a Registered Non-Profit Organization, registered with the Government of Trinidad and Tobago. :-D

Our registered name is "Instrument in the Sustenance of God's Creations"
hence the name change of the group. I have left the "Feeding of the Waterloo Dogs" in so that no one gets confused in the beginning, however it will be taken off after a few weeks.

It has been a long journey since we first started this some months ago, sometime within the next two weeks a bank account will be setup so that funds can be donated.

At the moment we have a few puppies up for adoption, some very very cute pompeks and others. Check the facebook group for pics

exactly

if you feed them without actually addressing the 'homeless' problem, they will only reproduce more and create a bigger problem. Not to mention, more dogs will starve.

good Humane cause.

Legislation needs to be drafted for the registration, tattooing and neutering of all animals not fit or intended for breeding.

TSPCA has limited room, cannot blame the dogs for overpopulation, its the owners fault and neglect.

It doesnt matter who's fault. The dogs cant be left to do whatever they want. If they continue to mate and reproduce, the problem will only worsen.

Ttspca will put them down. Sad reality. May be for the good or bad some may argue. I say this being an active member and volunteer of ttspca and animal welfare network. There is a serious overpopulation, sometimes the humane thing to do is to put them down.

I'll see what assistance I can render

TTSPCA cannot handle all of the dogs, we are trying to get them to take the pups, which are much more easily adopted..

Secondly, we are trying our very best to contact several vets to have them neutered/spayed. The team of us only consists of 3 people with full time jobs, so there is only so much we can do on a daily basis.

As well, what are you gonna do, leave the dogs to starve and die? This is a TEMPORARY solution, not permanent, we're just trying to keep the animals alive bro.

I agree just put them down (put them to sleep) why have them suffer for much longer?
no one wants them, they are just out there suffering and waiting for the odd handout.

What about capture, then spay/neuter and release them.

Money donated would be put to better use doing this, not so?

Then again, a few vets will be needed to do this at low/no cost.

Good Luck.

We are calling around but no vets are willing to volunteer, and their costs is really high.

Why don't we do this to the humans in society as well, they are animals to.

Why put them to sleep? Maybe we should put the vagrants in POS to sleep to. They are in the same situation as the dogs, actually, they are more of a threat than the dogs. If you realize with ALL institutions, putting to sleep, is a LAST resort.
